The air at the Archdiocesan Catholic Men Organization, AICMO 2026 Convention, was thick with politics and prophecy on Sunday as two of the APC’s biggest names for 2027, Hon. Engr. Dr. Aderemi Abas Oseni and Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, declared that Oyo South is poised for “real-life transformation” under the renewed leadership vision of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking to a packed audience of Catholic men, community leaders, and party faithful, Hon. Engr. Dr. Aderemi Abas Oseni, Member representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency FERMA, formally announced his bid for the Oyo South Senatorial District seat, while distinguished Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, the sitting Senator for Oyo South Senatorial District and APC Gubernatorial Candidate for 2027, unveiled his blueprint to overhaul governance in Oyo State.
The convention, themed “Reawakening the Spiritual and Moral Authority/Leadership of Catholic Men in the Church, the Family and the Society”, became a rallying point for what both leaders described as a divine mandate for righteous leadership.

In a wide-ranging address anchored on spiritual awakening, Oseni told the congregation that 2027 must usher in leaders “who don’t see elections as a do-or-die affair” but who believe “with God, nothing shall be impossible.”
He anchored his message on national reforms under President Tinubu, describing them as the reason Nigerians “are rejoicing” today.

“Except somebody wants to be unfair, it has never happened in the affairs of Nigeria where student loans will be granted to students, for them to come and grow, and to fulfill their dream in the area of education,” Hon. Oseni said.
He highlighted gains across sectors: oil and gas deregulation that has created “genuine investors,” massive road infrastructure projects including coastal roads from Lagos to Calabar and reinforced concrete highways from Shagamu to Benin, mechanized agriculture that has trained over 4,000 Nigerians, and sweeping reforms in health and water resources.
“That is why I said: ‘When the righteous is enthroned, or is in a position of authority, the people will rejoice,’” he declared, to loud amens from the crowd.
Pivoting to 2027, Hon. Remi Oseni made his declaration official:
“I am contesting for Oyo South in 2027. From January 16th, it will be an ultimate request that I need to push to our people today: that I will not let them down. They will see what they call real-life transformation in Oyo South like never before. I promise you. It’s a pledge.”
Drawing from his tenure in Ido/Ibarapa East, Hon. Remi Oseni catalogued projects he said were already changing lives. He announced that over ₦2 billion worth of solar street lights have been approved and contractors are mobilizing to cover all 20 wards within the next 2 to 3 months.
In water, he said boreholes are being drilled “as if we are not using money,” describing it as “the right of our people.” In power, he said he has distributed more than 30 transformers and has requested 42 more, with a plan to distribute 20 to 30 more before the end of his first term.
In education, Hon. Remi Oseni said he has completed 3 blocks of classrooms now in use, paid WAEC fees for about 1,500 students and JAMB fees for nearly 2,000 students, many of whom have gained university admission.
Extending the promise to Oyo South’s 9 local governments, he said he has already completed 8 boreholes, 2 bridges with a third to commence in days, and that solar lights are “already on their way.”
He also spoke on economic empowerment, noting grants to tailors, fashion designers, and market women in Agodi, Oritamerin, and Gate. “Fashion designers and tailors are making more money than permanent secretaries in the country today,” he said, adding that service, not competition, is his driving philosophy.
Hon. Aderemi Abas Oseni also used the platform to appreciate President Tinubu for the senatorial ticket and announced a personal donation of ₦5 million to support the ministry.
The Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District and the governorship candidate for the All Progressive Congress APC in the 2027 Elections, Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, who was also in attendance, said the recent visit of the APC National Chairman to launch the Oyo State governorship campaign office showed “there is unity in the party.”
Outlining his vision for Oyo State, Alli said his administration from 2027 would prioritize local government financial autonomy.
“Come 2027, there will be financial autonomy for our local government, and this will lead us to several other things,” he stated. He said this would enable councils to deliver free and qualitative education and strengthen security through revived vigilante structures and the coming state police.
On the economy, Alli promised to site cottage industries in every local government to add value to local produce, citing Iseyin as an example. He also announced plans to set aside ₦50 billion to support youths and elders in entrepreneurship and job creation.
“We are going to bring the companies right to site, so that it will give you some value addition and it will not just be raw,” he said.
Earlier in his address, AICMO Chaplain Rev. Fr. Ajewole Emmanuel Adeyinka said the convention came at a “crucial time when we men must seriously take charge of our place of leadership in the Church, family and society.”
He urged Catholic men to emulate St. Joseph as “a true spiritual leader” who protected, provided, and listened to God. “Societies rise and fall with proper leadership or lack of it. When men drop the ball, society falls and fails,” he warned, charging the men to raise the bar of discipline and excellence.
AICMO President, Sir Felix Adoroh, and Vice President, Mr. Christopher Ololo, were also commended for building the organization on “solid spiritual foundations.”
Sunday’s convergence of Oseni and Alli on one stage signals a strategic alignment within the APC ahead of 2027. Both men repeatedly tied their ambitions to the reform agenda of President Tinubu, framing their campaigns as an extension of the President’s transformation drive.
With Oseni seeking to move from the House of Representatives to the Senate, and Alli aiming for the Oyo State Government House, their joint appearance and messaging suggest the APC is consolidating its front for Oyo South and the state at large.
As the convention ended with prayers and pledges, one message rang clear: for these APC leaders, 2027 is not just about winning elections. It is about delivering governance that makes “the people rejoice.”
