Party Leadership Says Grassroots Mobilisation Will Be Decisive In Re-electing President Tinubu and Electing Barr. Sharafadeen Alli as Governor
The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has formally endorsed the SHARAFITE Movement as one of its recognized support groups, with the State Executive Committee pledging full backing for the movement’s grassroots mobilization drive aimed at the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the emergence of Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli (BSA) as Governor of Oyo State in 2027.
The endorsement was sealed on Monday during a strategic courtesy visit by the leadership of the SHARAFITE Movement, led by its Founder and Convener, Hon. Abayomi Olajide, popularly known as “Royal Umbrella,” to the Oyo State APC Secretariat in Ibadan.
The meeting, which had in attendance the Oyo State APC Chairman, His Excellency Dr. Moses Adeyemo Alake, members of the State Executive Committee, and the 33 APC Local Government Chairmen, marked a significant step in the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Addressing the party leadership, Hon. Olajide formally introduced the SHARAFITE Movement as a broad-based, people-driven support group established to deepen political awareness, strengthen grassroots structures, and mobilize massive support for APC candidates across all levels.
According to him, the movement has, within a short period, built a formidable presence across the 33 Local Government Areas and 351 wards of Oyo State, with trained coordinators and structures in every polling unit.
“Your Excellency, distinguished leaders, the SHARAFITE Movement was birthed out of conviction, conviction that a united, organized, and motivated grassroots remains the bedrock of electoral victory,” Royal Umbrella stated.
He explained that the movement’s primary objective is to mobilize support for Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, BSA, as the APC Governorship Candidate in 2027, while also working for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates for Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly.
“We believe that victory in 2027 will not happen by accident. It will be the product of deliberate grassroots engagement, political education, and a united front. That is what SHARAFITE represents,” he added.
In his response, the Oyo State APC Chairman, Dr. Moses Adeyemo Alake, commended Hon. Olajide for his commitment, loyalty, and visible contributions to the party despite joining the APC relatively recently.
Dr. Alake described the SHARAFITE Movement as “timely, strategic, and aligned with the vision of the party to reclaim Oyo State and consolidate gains at the national level.”
He assured Royal Umbrella and his team that the State Executive would not only recognize their efforts but would also integrate the movement into the party’s campaign architecture ahead of 2027.
“Let me state clearly that the APC in Oyo State is one big family. We acknowledge your work, we appreciate your sacrifice, and we assure you that you will be carried along in all party activities and engagements,” the Chairman said to applause.
The high point of the visit was the official endorsement of the SHARAFITE Movement as a recognized support group within the Oyo State APC structure.
Following the endorsement, Hon. Olajide and members of his team were formally introduced to the 33 APC Local Government Chairmen present at the meeting. Party leaders described the introduction as critical to aligning the movement’s structure with the existing party hierarchy at the grassroots.
Stakeholders at the meeting noted that the move signals the APC’s renewed focus on ward-to-ward and unit-to-unit mobilization — a strategy many believe was key to the party’s national victory in 2023.
The visit concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to party unity, aggressive voter education, and collective work to ensure APC’s dominance in Oyo State and at the center.
Leaders present agreed that the SHARAFITE Movement’s template of combining political awareness with direct grassroots engagement would complement the party’s official campaign structure.
Speaking after the meeting, a senior party chieftain said: “What we have seen today is the APC getting serious early. With groups like SHARAFITE on the ground, delivering President Tinubu again and producing BSA as governor in 2027 is not just a dream, it is a project already in motion.”
With this endorsement, the SHARAFITE Movement now joins the growing list of APC support groups in Oyo State tasked with the responsibility of expanding the party’s base, defending its mandate, and delivering victory in 2027.
