The member representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Chairman, House Committee on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Hon. Aderemi Oseni, has commiserated with the families of victims of the tragic fuel tanker accident that claimed six lives in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Oseni conveyed his condolences in a statement issued on Wednesday by his Media Aide, Idowu Ayodele, describing the incident as painful and deeply disturbing. He expressed sympathy with those injured and prayed for their quick recovery.

No fewer than six persons, including a motorcyclist, were reportedly killed on Tuesday when a trailer carrying 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) lost control and rammed into several tricycles at the Fruits Market along the Oje–Beere route in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area. Several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Eyewitnesses said the trailer suffered brake failure while descending the busy Mapo–Beere–Oje road, causing panic among commuters, traders, and residents in the area. The impact left vehicles damaged and victims trapped before emergency responders arrived.

Reacting, the APC chieftain described the loss of lives as tragic and avoidable, stressing the need for stricter adherence to road safety measures, particularly for heavy-duty vehicles transporting flammable products.
