Popular Educationist, Oyelade Asks FG To Desist From Poor Educational Budgeting In Nigeria

An educationist, Dr. Oyekola Oyelade has called for massive investment in education so as to bring infrastructural facilities to schools.
He noted that unstable education policies and poor infrastructural facilities have negatively affected the country’s education.
Dr. Oyelade who is a principal lecturer at Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo made the call at the maiden edition of JOURNALIST OLAWALE OGUNBUSOLA SCHOOL COMPETITION in five local government areas within Ibadan metropolis which includes Egbeda, Lagelu, Ibadan Southwest, Ibadan south east and Ibadan North held at National Museum of Unity, Aleshinloye, Ibadan on Thursday.
He emphasized the need for all
levels of government to mobilize youths for qualitative education so as to make them relevant in the future.
” The recommendation of the United Nations Educational Science and Cultural Organisation(UNESCO) is that not less than 26 percent of the annual budget should be earmarked to Education, unfortunately only 10 percent is ascribed; how will there be better funding of education? No wonder, there is poor infrastructural facilities and policy somersault?”
Also the Deputy majority leader in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Samson Babalola implored Nigerians to see education as a weapon for transformation which they should all invest on.

In his goodwill message, Deputy Chief Whip of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Adebisi called on the State government to support the competition and convener of the program so as to fast track education progress.
” Let me stress that the initiative is pretty nice .
“On behalf of the entire Oyo Legislature, we state our alliance with the convener and it is believed there will still be a formal meeting with Mr Ogunbusola with the entire Legislature over continual progress of this initiative”
” I believe the state government will do something about further partnership since the partner has the objective of the present led administration in the state by Gov. Seyi Makinde”
Meanwhile,State director, National Orientation Agency,Oyo State Chapter, Mr Tunde Odedokun ably represented by his deputy, believes corruption is everywhere in the world but can be kicked against at all governmental levels through sound policy formation in Nigeria.
” It has been said that the best policy in other climes has always suffered a miscarriage in Nigeria. Why? It is true because our policy delivery often gets demobilised because of poor implementation”; he said.
In a speech, the convener of the programme and senior reporter of King Fm Mr. Olawale Ogunbusola explained that the essence of the programme was to raise standards and deepen education into creativeness.
“” I am very delighted having this rare competition formally today. I have had this done informally years ago, much thanks to Mr Moyosore Akanji ,one of the secretaries of this Event who advised its formality.
” We have come to the reality that there are good certificates in Nigeria but no better defence of them; why?
” The essence of this Event is to open youths of my ages to creativeness”, he added.
The event was graced by technocrats, politicians, educationists, artists, broadcast journalists from home and overseas and presentation of awards of honour to all participating schools and guests , one of whom includes the General Manager of king FM as “2022 Best Private Radio Administrator”.; Olusina Olabode ‘omo iya shina’ as “2022 Oyo state Best Radio Edutainer”, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin as the “2022 Oyo state Best Legislative Leader”; Hon. Commissioner For Education,Hon. Abdulramon Abdulrahim as “2022 Oyo State Most Dedicated Commissioner” ; Hon. Samson Babalola as ” 2022 Oyo State Most Attentive Legislator “; Hon. Yusuf Adebisi as “2022 Oyo State Most sociable Legislator ” , Mrs Hannah Omowumi Ogunbusola as “All Time Best Wife”, Dr. Oyekola Oyelade as “2022 Best Counsellor”, Mr Olawale Franklin Akinselure as “2022 Oyo State Best Newspaper Correspondent”, Mr Adeola Badru as ” 2022 Best Newspaper Editor” among others.
Prizes of the first three best students went to Government College Ibadan, CHS Ajagba, Ifesowopo High School and Oladiipo Alayande school of Science.
