The Oyo State chapter of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a grassroots mobilisation group supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has received 32 campaign vehicles donated by Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The donation was announced during the inauguration of the movement’s Oyo State chapter at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, formerly Liberty Stadium, in Ibadan.
Akinola Kazeem, Oyo State coordinator of the movement and deputy director of grassroots engagement and mobilisation in President Tinubu’s presidential campaign, said Oyo State would deliver more votes for the president in 2027 than it did in the last presidential election. He urged members of the movement and APC supporters to intensify their efforts and ensure victory for all APC candidates in Oyo State.
“Oyo State gave President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the highest vote in the South-West in 2023. We will give the President the highest vote in Nigeria in 2027. Let us work hard to achieve this,” Akinola said.
He said the 32 vehicles are equipped with sound systems, stickers and generators for door-to-door campaigning.
Chief Kestin Pondi, who represented Tompolo at the event, said the vehicles were donated to facilitate the movement’s mobilisation activities and strengthen its engagement with voters across Oyo State. The donation is expected to provide logistical support as political preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 elections.
Also at the event, the APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, pledged to grant autonomy to local governments and Local Council Development Areas from May 29, 2027, if elected governor. His pledge placed local government autonomy among the key governance issues raised at the gathering.
Other notable attendees included Sunday Adekanbi Asuku, coordinator of the movement; Dr. Joshua Oyebanji, APC Central Senatorial Chairman; Hon. Yemi Aderibigbe; and Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete. House of Representatives candidates present included Tolulope Akande Sadipe of Oluyole Federal Constituency and Hon. Folake Oshinowo-Olunloyo of Ibadan South West/North West Federal Constituency.
The inauguration and vehicle donation form part of the movement’s preparations for the 2027 elections, as it seeks to expand its grassroots reach and coordinate door-to-door engagement in support of President Tinubu’s re-election bid and other APC candidates in Oyo State.
The movement’s efforts come amid broader engagements by the Presidential Campaign Council, led by its Director-General, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, with traditional institutions in Oyo State. The council’s visits to the Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Alaafin of Oyo formed part of its engagements with traditional rulers ahead of the 2027 general elections.
