The newly appointed market leaders in Oyo State have paid a thank-you visit to the Balogun Bobajiroro of Orile-Igbon and prominent political leader, Otunba Seye Famojuro, at his Ikolaba residence in Ibadan, to express gratitude for his support and that of Governor Seyi Makinde over their emergence as leaders of the state’s trading community.
The delegation was led by the newly appointed Babaloja-General of Oyo State, Alhaji Yekini Abass (Y.K. Abass), alongside the Iyaloja-General, Princess Folashade Azeezat Nurudeen, and other newly appointed market executives.

It would be recalled that Governor Seyi Makinde recently approved the appointment of new market leaders for the state, with Alhaji Y.K. Abass as Babaloja-General, Alhaji S.T. Jimoh as Aare Oloja, Alhaji J.T. Raimi as Asiwaju Oloja, and Princess Folashade Azeezat Nurudeen as Iyaloja-General of Oyo State.
Speaking during the visit, the Babaloja-General, Alhaji Y.K. Abass, expressed profound appreciation to Governor Makinde and Otunba Famojuro for the confidence reposed in them, describing their appointment as a divine opportunity to serve and contribute meaningfully to the growth of commerce in Oyo State.

Alhaji Abass pledged to lead with the fear of God, fairness, justice and inclusiveness, assuring that his administration would embrace all stakeholders and ensure that no segment of the market community is left behind. He also offered fervent prayers for Governor Makinde and Otunba Famojuro, asking God to continue to strengthen, protect and uplift them in all their endeavours.
In the same vein, the Iyaloja-General, Princess Folashade Azeezat Nurudeen, thanked Otunba Seye Famojuro for his fatherly support and acknowledged the pivotal role of Governor Makinde in their emergence.
Princess Nurudeen Abeo prayed for the realisation of Governor Makinde’s presidential aspiration, expressing optimism that by the grace of God, it would come to pass. According to her, Oyo State has witnessed unprecedented development under the Makinde administration.

She noted that the governor’s outstanding performance has had direct positive impact on traders, particularly through the regular and prompt payment of workers’ salaries, which she said has significantly boosted patronage and sales in markets across the state.
“Oyo State has never had it this beautiful before. Governor Makinde has performed wonderfully well, and he makes us happy because we make maximum sales immediately he pays workers’ salaries,” she stated.
Responding, Otunba Seye Famojuro appreciated the newly appointed market leaders and their entourage for the visit and congratulated them on their well-deserved appointments. He urged them to approach their new responsibilities with humility, patience, accountability and the fear of God.

Famojuro advised the new leaders to remain focused on their core mandate and to shun unnecessary controversies, criticisms and distractions capable of undermining their leadership. He stressed the importance of maintaining a clear conscience and allowing integrity to guide their decisions and interactions.
Sharing his personal experience, the respected political leader disclosed that despite not holding any formal government office, he has often been a subject of criticism, abuse, and curses, but remains undisturbed because his actions are guided by conscience and the fear of God.
“I have no office, yet a lot of people abuse me and curse me, but I am never bothered. I sleep so well because I do all I do with the fear of God,” Famojuro said.
He further counselled the appointees to extend hands of fellowship to those who contested the positions but were unsuccessful, warning them against seeing such individuals as enemies. He noted that their emergence was by divine favour and should therefore inspire magnanimity, unity and inclusiveness.

“You are just opportunists; hence, work together with everyone in unity and lead with the fear of God. Make friends with those who contested with you and never make them your enemies. Reach out to them and carry everyone along because whoever God has blessed, no man can curse,” he advised.
Famojuro also charged the new market executives to prioritise the collective interests of traders across the 33 local government areas of the state, emphasising that inclusive leadership, peaceful coexistence and cooperation among market associations would be critical to achieving their mandate and sustaining the growth of commerce in Oyo State.
The visit ended on a cordial note, with renewed assurances from the market leaders that they would justify the confidence reposed in them, work harmoniously with all relevant stakeholders, and promote unity, peace and prosperity in markets across Oyo State.
