The historic Hijrah celebration was held at the expansive Ilaji Hotel & Sports Resorts, Akanran, Ibadan, and brought together an unprecedented assembly of Islamic scholars, Imams, traditional rulers, community leaders, and faithful from across Nigeria and beyond.
Under the spiritual leadership of the Grand Chief Imam of Oyo, Edo, and Delta States, the event began as a solemn congregation of prayers, Quranic recitations, reflections, and thanksgiving. It later evolved into a remarkable demonstration of Islamic unity, peace, brotherhood, and cultural celebration.
In his remarks, Chief Dotun Sanusi described the massive turnout as a clear testament to the strength, harmony, and peaceful coexistence of the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria. He noted that the choice of Ilaji Hotel & Sports Resorts for the event underscores the facility’s capacity to host gatherings of national and religious significance in an atmosphere of order, mutual respect, and hospitality.
“This convergence of over 50,000 leaders and faithful reflects the unity of purpose that defines Islam. Ilaji remains committed to providing a world-class platform for spiritual, cultural, and national events that promote peace and progress,” Chief Sanusi stated.
A major highlight of the Hijrah 1448 celebration was a session of special supplications offered for the continued success, wisdom, and good health of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
The Muslim leaders also prayed fervently for lasting peace, security, and economic prosperity across Nigeria, as well as for the continued stability, growth, and development of Oyo State under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde.
The spiritual atmosphere, marked by deep devotion and collective hope, gradually gave way to a joyful carnival. Thousands of participants marked the Islamic New Year with gratitude, brotherhood, cultural displays, and an overwhelming spirit of unity and optimism for the year ahead.
The event further positioned Ilaji Hotel & Sports Resorts as a premier destination capable of accommodating events of national magnitude. The seamless organization, security, and hospitality received commendation from religious leaders, traditional rulers, and participants who traveled from different parts of the country.
The gathering reinforced the resort’s reputation as a bridge for inter-community engagement, where faith, culture, and nation-building converge.
In conclusion, the leaders prayed that Allah (SWT) accepts all supplications offered, blesses Nigeria with enduring peace, grants President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the wisdom and strength to lead the nation, and ushers Oyo State into a future of greater progress, security, and prosperity.
“May this new Islamic year bring renewed hope, unity, faith, and abundant blessings to all Muslims, to Nigeria, and to the entire world,” the Grand Chief Imam declared.
The successful Hijrah 1448 celebration at Ilaji has been described by many attendees as one of the largest and most peaceful Islamic gatherings in the South-West in recent years.
