Hon. Dr. Engr. Aderemi Abass Oseni has officially seconded the report of his empowerment drive, confirming with finality: “Pledge to market men and women redeemed.” The declaration puts a seal on Monday, June 22, 2026, as a defining moment in the political mobilization of Oyo South Senatorial District.
On that day, Hon. Oseni splashed ₦100 million in direct empowerment and support funds to market men and women across all nine local government areas of the district. The epoch-making engagement, held with full backing of market leadership, brought together traders from Gbagi, Bodija, and other major market zones under the coordination of leaders such as YK Abass of Gbagi Market and Alhaji Ameringun of Bodija Market. Also in attendance were respected APC stalwarts, including Alhaji Jelili Agboola, Alhaji Olaiya, and Alhaji Shina Alabi.
The gathering was not just a meeting; it was a strategic alignment of grassroots structure, economic empowerment, and political vision for 2027. Market and traders’ leaders unanimously pledged:
“We will put in place structures at homes and markets to deliver overwhelming votes for Remi Oseni’s victory as Senator and target over one million votes for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election in Oyo State.”
With Hon. Remi Oseni’s confirmation that the ₦100 million promised has been disbursed. The confirmation strengthens his reputation as a leader whose words translate to action, and it validates the trust reposed in him by Oyo South traders.
In his address at the meeting, Hon. Dr. Engr. Aderemi Abass Oseni clarified that the engagement was a stakeholders’ meeting and not a campaign event, stressing that full campaign activities would commence only when INEC releases the official timetable. He lamented that factionalism among market groups had previously denied them access to numerous intervention opportunities he facilitated, and urged unity as the only path to maximize federal and state benefits.
Hon. Remi Oseni implored the traders to align with the agenda of the All Progressives Congress APC and his personal development agenda. He emphasized that the people of Oyo State stand to gain far more under a governance structure aligned from the presidency to the grassroots.
“A vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a vote for the improved well-being of the people of Oyo State,” Hon. Remi Oseni declared. He stated that the promise of one million votes for Tinubu in 2027 is non-negotiable.
Hon. Remi Oseni used the platform to highlight landmark achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu since assuming office: the introduction of NELFUND for student loans, an end to incessant strikes in public institutions, tuition-free technical colleges to drive skills acquisition, removal of fuel subsidy with savings now channeled to state governments, rehabilitation of critical interstate highways including Sagamu-Benin, Benin-Onitsha, Port Harcourt-Enugu, Uyo-Calabar, Lekki-Calabar, and Sokoto-Badagry Coastal Roads, presidential approval for subsidy on cancer treatment as moved by Oseni on the floor of the House, and federal distribution of agricultural chemicals, spraying machines, and tools to farmers nationwide.
He noted that Oyo State will benefit maximally when governance is aligned at the federal, state, senatorial, and local government levels. This alignment, he said, ensures direct delivery of federal dividends to the grassroots.
As a demonstration of his philanthropic nature and commitment to impact beyond politics, Hon. Oseni distributed ₦5 million to attendees as remuneration, with an additional ₦10 million allocated to each of the nine local government areas.
Looking ahead, he assured the market men and women of concrete benefits once he attains the senatorial seat: creation of the Office of Senior Special Assistant on Market Affairs, provision of buses for each local government to ease trading logistics, and assistance with employment opportunities through federal paramilitary recruitment for those who register online.
He charged all beneficiaries to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards within the limited timeframe remaining, stressing that PVC remains the ultimate instrument of political power.
The market men and women of Oyo South Senatorial District left the meeting aligned with Hon. Dr. Engr. Aderemi Abass Oseni’s vision, pledging to build formidable structures at the market and household levels to deliver victory for both Oseni as Senator and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
