.…Promises Completion Within Four Months, Donates N25 Million to Support Community Groups
In a bold demonstration of responsive, people-centred and grassroots-driven representation, the Member representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency and APC Candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Engr. Dr. Aderemi Abas Oseni, has approved the sum of One Hundred Million Naira (N100m) for the immediate rehabilitation of the major road serving the Pasobba Communities.
Hon. Oseni announced the intervention on Saturday, 12th September, 2026, during a well-attended Communities Town Hall Meeting organised by leaders of the Pasobba Communities and held at the Community Open Ground.
The town hall meeting, which attracted a massive turnout of residents, was hosted by all Pasobba Communities Leaders and had in attendance Royal Fathers including the Onisiba of Siba Land and Baale of Awonsoso Land, religious leaders including Alfas and the Chief Imam, traditional chiefs, women leaders, landlords, landladies, and vibrant youths drawn from the seven communities that make up PASOBBA: Power Line, Awonsoso, Siba, Olupoyi, Balogun, Baba Agba, and Agaloke.
Commencing his address with a song of thanksgiving and prayers to God for the unity and progress of the communities, Hon. Remi Oseni paid glowing tributes to the Royal Fathers, religious leaders, and community elders, with special recognition for the youths whom he described as the hope and future of Oyo South.
He clarified that despite the lifting of the ban on political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, his ongoing tour of communities across the senatorial district should not be misconstrued as a campaign rally.
According to him, his engagement is a consultative and listening visit aimed at interfacing directly with the people, understanding their challenges, clearing pending issues, and collaboratively finding sustainable solutions to their needs.
“My visit here today is not to solicit for votes, but to listen and find practical ways to attend to the requests and plights of my people,” Hon. Remi Oseni declared to a resounding applause.
The federal lawmaker recalled that he had visited the Pasobba axis before the 2023 general election and also honoured an invitation to a chieftaincy programme in the area, stressing that his return was a continuation of his long-standing relationship with the people and a demonstration that representation must go beyond election seasons.
Speaking on his interventions in critical infrastructure, Hon. Remi Oseni disclosed that he has facilitated the distribution of 31 transformers across Ido and Ibarapa zones, even though he acknowledged that such provision ordinarily falls outside the direct statutory responsibilities of a federal legislator.
He attributed the necessity of such interventions to what he described as the inability of the state government to adequately address the pressing infrastructural deficits facing the grassroots.
He also addressed reports that some youths had torn his banners placed on some of the donated transformers over unmet expectations. While expressing understanding, he appealed to the youths not to allow themselves to be used as tools by political opponents to discredit genuine efforts aimed at community development, but rather to channel their energy towards constructive engagement that would attract more development.
Hon. Remi Oseni revealed that he had personally funded about 80 percent of the transformers distributed from his personal resources, noting that each transformer currently costs not less than Fifteen Million Naira (N15m).
He explained that it has become increasingly difficult to meet all community requests simultaneously because of the multiplicity of demands presented to him, ranging from transformers, solar street lights, boreholes, construction of toilets, bridges, provision of JAMB and WAEC forms, and direct financial assistance to indigent residents.
“We cannot distribute all the requested transformers at once because the people’s requests also include solar lights, toilets, boreholes, bridges, JAMB forms, WAEC forms and financial assistance. It is not only transformers that we will be attending to,” he explained.
In a deeply inspiring moment, Hon. Remi Oseni charged the youths to remain resilient and focused, sharing his personal life story as a motivation.
He recounted how he once worked as a bus conductor to raise money to pay his secondary school fees, a humble beginning that did not deter him from pursuing excellence and eventually becoming a successful engineer, businessman and national legislator.
“I was once like you. I did bus conductor work before I could pay my school fees in secondary school, and today we thank God,” he said.
He further disclosed that in his drive to promote youth self-reliance and entrepreneurship, he has empowered several youths across his constituency with One Million Naira (N1m) each, which he described as a meaningful seed capital capable of establishing a reasonable small-scale business.
The climax of the town hall meeting was the interactive session where community leaders articulated their most pressing need, the deplorable state of their access road.
In a display of participatory leadership, Hon. Remi Oseni threw the question to the people, asking them to choose between the provision of a new transformer and the rehabilitation of their road.
After robust deliberations and unanimous submission by the community stakeholders that the road remained their number one priority, Hon. Remi Oseni promptly approved One Hundred Million Naira (N100,000,000) for its complete rehabilitation.
He assured the people that the project would be executed to standard and completed within four months, a pronouncement that was greeted with thunderous jubilation and songs of appreciation from the crowd.
In addition to the road project, the Oyo South Senatorial hopeful also announced a donation of Twenty-Five Million Naira (N25m) to support various groups, associations and stakeholders that were represented at the town hall meeting, as a way of strengthening community organisation and grassroots participation.
Hon. Engr. Dr. Aderemi Abas Oseni reiterated that his interventions are borne out of genuine passion for the development, welfare and wellbeing of his people, assuring that his consultative engagements will continue across Oyo South as he seeks to deepen his understanding of the needs of the people and respond to them in line with available resources.
He also used the occasion to comment on governance priorities, stating that resources of government should be channelled towards impactful infrastructure and citizens’ welfare rather than projects and activities he considered less beneficial to the ordinary people.
The Pasobba Communities Town Hall Meeting ended on a note of renewed hope, with community leaders and residents expressing profound gratitude to Hon. Engr. Dr. Aderemi Abas Oseni for listening to them, identifying with their pains, and taking immediate and concrete action to address their long-standing infrastructural challenge.
