The Chairman of Governor’s Advisory Council, to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Senator Hosea Ayoola popularly known as ‘Alleluyah’ has been alleged of conspiracy and shenanigan to fix the candidates for the subsequent Local Government election in OkeOgun axis of the state, at the expense of party primaries.
Investigation gathered by naijatodaynews.com revealed that Alleluyah who is a strong Chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has compiled the names of all preferred candidates across the ten(10) local governments in OkeOgun and they are likely to be the ones to stand for election slated for May 15 by Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, OYSIEC.
In an interaction with an Iseyin indigene and political conscious person who spoke under the condition of anonymity disclosed that Hon. Abilawon, Alleluyah’s preferred candidate can’t coast home to victory, provided a free and fair primary election is conducted in Iseyin Local Government.
An anonymous source added that, despite the fact that Abilawon was given the ticket to act as a caretaker chairman through Alleluyah, he has not convincingly performed and equally failed to do the needful in wooing all the executive members to his side.
Abilawon was alleged of keeping animosity, sentiment and acrimony for anyone who belongs not to Alleluyah’s group, not knowing that the election will require the inputs and firm support of the party Local executives and others whom Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha, the state party chairman has grip of.
A loyalist of Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha who also felt reluctant to disclose his identity disclosed that Iseyin Local Government is unique among the local governments in OkeOgun where an outsider can’t dictate for politically.
He added that they have political gladiators who are politically experienced to dictate the affairs of the party at home and beyond, stressing that an insider determines their political directions and games not the outsider.
On the issue of Iseyin LG’s PDP candidate to be fixed for the forthcoming Local Government in the pacesetter state, he said that he harboured no sentiment against any aspirant but he prefers things to go in line with electoral process.
Also, in Iwajowa Local Government, result of investigation conducted showed that Alleluyah has interest in the incumbent caretaker chairman, Hon. Abdul Jeleel Oyinloye but has no majority among the executives, as the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Barr. Farinto coupled with the member of Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Akeem Adedibu who represents the LG at the state hallow chamber hold firm grip of the executives and others.
Naijatodaynews.com had it that the stakeholders, loyalists and entire members of Peoples Democratic Party in Iwajowa Local Government condemned imposition of candidate which they described would distingerate and explode the party at the local level and OkeOgun in general, if things are not in line with democratic principles.
There are other Local Governments like Kajola, Itesiwaju, Atisbo, Saki west, Saki east, Oorelope, Olorunsogo and other where it was authoritatively gathered that the stakeholders, members of PDP are not in support of imposition of candidates by Alleluyah but completely in support of transparent primary election.
Findings showed that Governor Seyi Makinde has given directives to the members of State Working Committee to ensure that they handle the conduct of party primaries in line with electoral process, stressing that he would not tolerate a situation whereby an individual will hijack the process in his/her own favour.
Majority of the respondents that the crew of naijatodaynews.com had the privilege to speak with in OkeOgun area of the pacesetter state reiterated that it is only primary election will justify the stance of Engr Seyi Makinde and any other thing aside the democratic process will throw the party into another crisis.
