With a view to attaining victory at the Local Government election slated for May 22, members of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Kajola Local Government, Area of Oyo State have put behind the perceived differences, internal wranglings and unanimously thrown weight behind the chairmanship candidature of Alhaji(Hon.) Saliman Adebayo Afolabi Borikansunwon.
This was manifested at the general meeting of the party held on Saturday, May 15, at Ward 3, Ilero, Iwa Local Council Development Area of the local government where the ranks and files of the party were in attendance.
While presiding over the meeting, The Local Party Chairman, Hon. Johnson Ojebiyi lavished encomiums on all chairmanship aspirants for their courage and pragmatism to show firm enthusiasm in the exalted position.
Ojebiyi however appreciated them for spirit of sportsmanship, patriotism and magnanimity shown after the conduct of party’s primaries and emergence of Hon. Saliman Adebayo Afolabi Borikansunwon as the chairmanship candidate for the next local government election.
Chairman disclosed that no doubt that some big wigs in the party showed their interest, but one had been favoured as a result of primaries which culminated in emergence of Borikansunwon, stressing that no victor and vanquish, as others who could not make it should throw their weight behind him so as to coast home to victory on election day.
In his own presentation, Chief Biodun George Jagunmolu, one of the party leaders , encouraged members of the party across 11 wards that make the local government to ensure that they arrive early at their respective polling units in order to exercise their civic responsibility.
Jagunmolu stressed that members should also mobilize others who are not party loyalists to the polling units and ensure they vote for PDP in order to attain the anticipated victory.
In a similar vein, Hon. Abass Olopoeniyan, a party leader and former member of the House of Representatives has equally toed Jagunmolu’s path , stressing that victory is assured for PDP on election day and the party members should not nurse any phobia.
Olopoeniyan acknowledged that PDP has ADP as a main contender in the election, stressing that members’ spirit of oneness, unity and togetherness will facilitate the victory.
In another vein, Hon.Waheed Ajadi, debunked an allegation of working for another political party, stressing that he remains a loyal, committed and dedicated member of PDP who has been working assiduously to ensure Borikansunwon’s and Councillors’ emergence.
Ajadi warned those peddling rumours with no substantial fact to desist from such, stressing that he could not allow people to dent his image, and however called on Borikansunwon and the Councillors to make themselves accessible to people after the election.
The Chairmanship Candidate, Borikansunwon thanked all and sundry for the support they had been showing before and after his emergence at the primaries, pledging that dividends of democracy would be definitely extended to all after the victory.
He enjoined party members to conduct themselves peacefully and give no room for any form of violence that may characterise election as null and void.
