Ibadan, Oyo State – Governor Seyi Makinde, FNSE, has approved a fresh round of strategic appointments into the Oyo State Executive Council, key committees, and tertiary institution boards, in a move aimed at strengthening governance, deepening service delivery, and accelerating infrastructure development across the state.
The governor, through his Special Adviser on Media, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, announced on Monday, June 30, 2026, that he had forwarded the name of Dr Olabode Taiwo Ladipo, the Permanent Secretary, General Administration, to the Oyo State House of Assembly as a commissioner-nominee.
In the same development, the governor appointed Arc. Ifeoluwa Akande as Chairman of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport Upgrade Committee. Akande is a former Oyo State House of Assembly aspirant for Ona-Ara State Constituency, who contested under the umbrella of the Coalition of the People’s Democratic Party and Allied People’s Movement, PDP-APM platform.
Other appointments announced include Honourable Isola Abiodun Adekunle as Executive Adviser, Intra-Party Affairs, and Hon Oladejo Emmanuel Oladokun as Part-Time Member of the Local Government Service Commission.
According to a letter signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, all four appointments take effect from July 1, 2026.
Governor Makinde congratulated the newly-appointed individuals and charged them to discharge their duties with dedication, loyalty, and commitment to the service of Oyo State. The appointments reflect the administration’s continued emphasis on merit, institutional memory, and political inclusion. Dr Ladipo’s nomination from the rank of Permanent Secretary underscores Makinde’s policy of elevating experienced technocrats into the State Executive Council, while the appointment of Arc. Ifeoluwa Akande signals the governor’s commitment to the PDP-APM coalition structure that supported his 2023 re-election. Akande’s new role places him at the centre of the state’s ambitious plan to upgrade the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport to international standard, a critical infrastructure project under the governor’s Omituntun 2.0 economic expansion agenda.
In a related development, Governor Makinde also reconstituted the Governing Council of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, reaffirming his administration’s focus on stability and continuity in the state’s tertiary education sector.
The governor reappointed Prof Kazeem Adekunle Adebiyi as Chairman of the Council. Prof Adebiyi was initially appointed on March 24, 2025, to complete the tenure of the late former chairman, Professor Abiodun Adebowale Ojo, who passed away last year.
Similarly, the governor reappointed Hon Johnson Oladele, Alh. Azeem Badmus, Engr Oyetayo Ige, Mrs Alice Adedokun, and Mr Waziri Adekunle as members of the Governing Council.
The re-appointment, also contained in a letter signed by the Chief of Staff, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, PhD, takes effect from July 1, 2026.
While congratulating the chairman and members on their reappointment, Governor Makinde charged them to work diligently for the uplift and academic excellence of the institution. The Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, remains a key component of the administration’s education roadmap, with ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, staff welfare, and student outcomes.
The latest round of appointments and reappointments demonstrates Governor Makinde’s deliberate strategy of blending technocratic competence with political balancing, as his administration enters its fourth year in office. By elevating Dr Ladipo, retaining Prof Adebiyi, and integrating coalition figures like Arc. Ifeoluwa Akande into critical assignments, the governor is consolidating a governance structure anchored on loyalty, capacity, and inclusive politics.
