IBADAN, Oyo State – Former Oyo State Governorship Aspirant and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress APC, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem AKK, has called on political stakeholders and citizens of Oyo State to embrace the spirit of the Hijrah as a guiding principle for governance and political conduct ahead of 2027.

In a message titled “The Political Hijrah—From Personal Ambition to Collective Redemption” released on Sunday, June 21, 2026, Dr. AKK likened the current socio-economic realities in Oyo State and Nigeria to the turbulent desert journey of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) from Makkah to Madinah. He described the Hijrah as not just a calendar event but a timeless metaphor for human elevation, courage, sacrifice, and structured progress.

According to Dr. AKK, the Hijrah represents a conscious migration from stagnation, systemic persecution, and moral decay into an era of enlightenment, justice, equity, and collective prosperity. He stressed that just as the early Muslims abandoned comfort and ancestral homes for a greater truth, Oyo citizens and leaders must now be willing to endure present hardships for the sake of a flourishing and industrialized future.

“We are currently navigating a turbulent socio-economic desert, attempting to migrate from the oppressive realities of economic hardship, infrastructural decay, and lackluster governance toward the oasis of a ‘Realistic Tomorrow’,” Dr. AKK stated. “Just like the original Hijrah, this modern journey demands heavy, daily sacrifices from the ordinary masses. The biting economic reforms and socio-political realignments we endure today are the steep prices we must pay to birth a permanently secure state for our children and grandchildren.”

The APC chieftain charged every citizen, leader, and political stakeholder to migrate away from the toxic politics of division, ethnic polarization, and short-term gratification. He argued that true developmental growth requires endurance through structural reforms and steadfastness in pursuit of excellent governance.

To fellow progressives, Dr. AKK appealed for the sacrifice of personal comforts and individual political ambitions in order to build a united and impenetrable front. He maintained that only a collective migration, driven by brotherhood, equity, and the collective good, can lead Oyo State successfully to the promised land of institutional redemption and victory in 2027.

“True progress demands that we place Oyo State above personal interest. Our political migration must be guided by sacrifice, unity, and a shared vision for institutional redemption,” he added.

Dr. AKK, while felicitating Muslim faithful in Oyo State, Nigeria, and across the world on the dawn of the New Hijri Year 1448H, prayed for healing, renewed hope, and abundant divine blessings for all households. He urged Allah to accept the collective sacrifices of citizens and grant Oyo State unending peace and prosperity.

“May the Almighty Allah graciously accept our collective sacrifices, grant us resilience to complete our journey, and cause our dear state to prosper. Happy Hijrah 1448 to you all, and may our lives continuously migrate toward absolute greatness,” he concluded.

The message reinforces Dr. AKK’s consistent advocacy for progressive unity, sacrifice, and visionary leadership as Oyo State prepares for the political realignments ahead of 2027.
