The All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District and member representing Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Aderemi Oseni, has distributed 10 electricity transformers to communities across the senatorial district as part of sustained efforts to address power supply challenges and boost economic activities at the grassroots.
The intervention, which is expected to significantly improve electricity supply in parts of Ido, Ibadan North and Ibadan South-East Local Government Areas, is the second phase of the lawmaker’s power sector support for constituents in Oyo South.
According to the statement made available to the pressmen, the benefiting communities in the latest phase include Jankata and Ajose communities in Ido Local Government Area; Irepodun/Iwajowa communities around the University of Ibadan in Ibadan North Local Government; as well as Iyana Court and Odinjo areas in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area.
Speaking on the gesture, Hon. Remi Oseni, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA, said the intervention was informed by direct needs assessment and repeated requests from communities across Oyo South Senatorial District.
He noted that residents across the district had continued to seek urgent assistance in critical areas of development, including electricity, water supply, roads, education, healthcare and economic empowerment.
“Many communities across Oyo South Senatorial District have requested support in different areas, including electricity, water, roads, education and empowerment. We recognise these needs and will continue to respond as resources and opportunities permit,” Oseni stated.
The federal lawmaker explained that effective representation goes beyond sponsoring bills and legislative duties in the Green Chamber to include sustained engagement with constituents and practical efforts aimed at addressing their developmental needs.
Hon. Remi Oseni stressed that investments in essential infrastructure such as electricity would not only improve living conditions but also support small businesses, artisans, and stimulate local economic activities in the beneficiary communities.
The latest intervention comes barely weeks after an earlier distribution of five transformers to communities in Ibadan South-West, Ibadan North, Ibadan North-West and Ido Local Government Areas.
The earlier beneficiaries, according to the statement, included Oke-Ayo/Odo-Ona and Adeoyo communities behind the Federal Industrial Court along Ring Road in Ibadan South-West; the Baptist community behind NIHORT in Ido Local Government; the Hausa community in Sabo, Ibadan North; and Opo community in Ibadan North-West Local Government.
The statement further explained that both interventions were strategically targeted at addressing prolonged electricity challenges that had affected households, crippled small scale businesses and slowed down other socio-economic activities in the affected areas.
Hon. Remi Oseni assured residents of Oyo South that requests from other communities that are yet to benefit from the scheme would continue to receive attention as opportunities and resources arise.
He reiterated that community development remains an important pillar of his legislative agenda alongside his responsibilities at the National Assembly, adding that he remains committed to ensuring that dividends of democracy reach every corner of the senatorial district.
Residents of the beneficiary communities have continued to commend the lawmaker for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful.
