The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate for Oyo Central Senatorial District, Ambassador Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has commended the Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government and Chairman, Association of Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ALGON), Oyo State Chapter, Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele, for his transformational leadership and prudent management of council resources.
Ambassador Ajadi gave the commendation on Friday at the Council Secretariat, Egbeda, Ibadan, during the commissioning of the newly constructed Office Complex for the Executive Chairman of Egbeda Local Government by the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barr. Abdulraheem ‘Bayo Lawal.
The APM Senatorial hopeful described the edifice, which was executed solely through the council’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), as a clear testament to Hon. Sanda’s vision, accountability, and commitment to lasting legacies.
Speaking in an interview with pressmen at the event, Ambassador Ajadi said:
“I want to commend the Chairman, in the person of Hon. Sanda Sikiru Oyedele, the Chairman of Egbeda Local Government and the Chairman of the Association of Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter, for the great job he has been doing so far since he became the Chairman of Egbeda Local Government. By the grace of God, this achievement will not be the end; he is going to achieve more, and the people will benefit immensely.
I also want to commend the Leader of the House in the Local Government and all the other councilors who supported him to achieve this awesome feat. By the grace of God, I pray that this kind of good achievement will positively impact our local government and our state.
And I wish to congratulate the Chairman once again for the great achievement he has brought to our local government.”
Ambassador Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, who was among the dignitaries that graced the colourful ceremony alongside traditional rulers, political leaders and top government functionaries, noted that Egbeda Local Government has become a model for grassroots development in Oyo State under Sanda’s leadership.
He said the commissioning of the Chairman’s Quarters further validates Governor Seyi Makinde’s policy of granting autonomy to local governments to drive development from the grassroots.
Fielding questions on what his contributions would be to local governments in Oyo State, especially Oyo Central, when elected as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the APM candidate unveiled part of his manifesto centred on youth empowerment and human capital development.
According to him, his representation would prioritize the needs of the youth and the masses across the twelve local governments that make up Oyo Central Senatorial District.
“By the grace of God, it is part of my manifesto that will be released very soon. It is my intention to ensure that I cater for the youth and the masses in Egbeda and the other eleven local governments. In that regard, I have observed that we need vocational centers for our youth, which I am promising to provide in each of the local governments,” Ambassador Ajadi stated.
He explained that the establishment of modern vocational centres in each local government will equip thousands of unemployed youths with relevant skills, promote self-reliance, reduce restiveness and stimulate economic growth at the grassroots.
Ambassador Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, a renowned diplomat, businessman and grassroots mobilizer, assured that his tenure in the Senate would be marked by quality legislation, effective oversight, facilitation of federal projects, and robust synergy with local government chairmen to ensure dividends of democracy reach the people.
He described his aspiration as a mission to restore responsive, accessible and people-driven representation to Oyo Central, adding that Egbeda Local Government, as a major stakeholder in the district, would benefit immensely from his people-oriented programmes.
Stakeholders at the event described Ambassador Ajadi as a credible, competent and compassionate leader whose wealth of international experience and passion for youth development position him as the ideal candidate to represent Oyo Central in the National Assembly under the platform of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
