The political momentum of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) in Oyo State received a major boost on Thursday July 2, 2026, as the leadership of the PDP-APM alliance stormed Akinyele and Lagelu Local Government Areas on a strategic “Thank-You-Tour”, appreciating residents and party faithful for their unflinching support while reaffirming the alliance’s commitment to purposeful and inclusive governance.
The high-powered delegation was led by the Chairman of the PDP-APM Alliance in Oyo State, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro, the Director-General Oyo State Liaison Office, Abuja & Lagos, Hon. Busari Olayemi, and the APM Governorship Candidate, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi. They were received by a mammoth crowd of party leadership, stalwarts, stakeholders, and supporters across the two LGAs.
The tour, described by party leaders as both symbolic and strategic, was designed to convey the alliance’s gratitude to the electorate for standing firmly with the APM, and to reassure communities that the party remains focused on delivering leadership that is responsive, people-centered, and committed to the development of Oyo State.
A high point of the engagement was the special recognition accorded to former APM Governorship Aspirant, Otunba Oluseye Oladosu Opatoki, for what party leaders described as his “exemplary sportsmanship, consistency, and tenacity in the party’s quest to form the next government of Oyo State.”
In his remarks, Hon. Ogungbenro commended Otunba Oluseye Opatoki for rising above personal ambition and placing the collective interest of the party above self. He noted that Opatoki’s maturity and sacrifice after the party’s governorship primary demonstrated the kind of leadership and unity required to wrest power and reposition the state.
“Otunba Oluseye Opatoki has shown that politics is not just about contesting, but about building. His decision to subordinate personal ambition to the greater cause of APM is rare in today’s politics. It is this spirit of sacrifice that will take us to victory,” Ogungbenro stated.
Also speaking, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi lauded Otunba Oluseye Opatoki for his dogged loyalty and enduring support, noting that such commitment has strengthened the ranks of the party and deepened confidence among members ahead of the forthcoming elections.
“Otunba Opatoki’s consistency has fortified APM. His presence and commitment send a clear message that this movement is about service, not self. With leaders like him, we are assured that APM will deliver purposeful leadership to the people of Oyo State,” Adekanmbi said.
In his response, Otunba Oluseye Opatoki renewed his commitment to the success of the Allied Peoples’ Movement and pledged to redouble grassroots mobilization efforts across all 33 local government areas of Oyo State.
He called on party members to remain united in focus and deed, stressing that victory in the forthcoming elections will only be achieved through hard work, cohesion, and loyalty to the ideals of the party.
“Our mission is clear. We must take APM to every ward, every community, and every home in Oyo State. This is not about individuals. This is about rescuing our state and giving our people the leadership they deserve. I assure you, we will deliver for APM,” Opatoki declared amid chants of approval from appreciative supporters.
The PDP-APM alliance leaders emphasized that the Thank-You Tour was not just an appreciation exercise, but also a reaffirmation of the alliance’s commitment to bringing governance closer to the people.
They assured residents of Akinyele and Lagelu that the alliance, if elected, will prioritize infrastructure, security, youth empowerment, agriculture, and social welfare, while ensuring that no community is left behind in the scheme of development.
Party stakeholders at the event described the tour as a demonstration of the alliance’s growing acceptance across the state and a clear signal that APM is consolidating its structures ahead of the polls.
The engagement ended with renewed pledges from party faithful to work tirelessly for the victory of all APM candidates in the forthcoming elections.
