The political landscape of Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency in Oyo State has taken a definitive shape ahead of the 2027 general elections, as a broad coalition of party leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally confirmed Hon. (Dr.) Ezekiel Temitope Oladimeji, popularly known as OTOPE, as the consensus candidate for the forthcoming House of Representatives race.

It has been officially confirmed that 23 prominent leaders in the constituency, led by Elder Wole Oyelese, have endorsed OTOPE following extensive consultations, with a formal report already submitted to the appropriate party authorities. The decision effectively positions him as the flagbearer aligned with the Omituntun 3.0 political direction.

In a move aimed at preventing internal rancour and strengthening grassroots unity, stakeholders are now calling on all other aspirants to accept the consensus arrangement and work collectively in support of the party’s broader agenda anchored on Omituntun 3.0, the developmental vision championed by the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde.

Political observers note that Omituntun 3.0 continues to serve as the guiding framework for governance consolidation and sustained development across the state, with party leaders reaffirming their commitment to its success at all levels.

In a tone that was both firm and conciliatory, Elder Oyelese referenced OTOPE’s loyalty during the previous election cycle.

“In 2023, OTOPE was not picked for the race, yet he remained firmly committed to the party and worked tirelessly for our collective success. We have seen his character. Now, it is his turn, and we must all secure victory for him in the coming general election,” he said.

He added that political office is ultimately occupied by one person at a time, urging aspirants to remain patient and trust the process, noting that every committed member will have their moment in due course.

The development is widely viewed as a strategic consolidation effort aimed at strengthening internal harmony and positioning the constituency firmly within the unfolding vision of Omituntun 3.0 as championed by Governor Seyi Makinde.
