Ibadan – 11 December 2025 – The University of Ibadan community was jolted this evening by an urgent security notice warning of suspected abductors and ritualists operating within the University College Hospital (UCH) premises. A female student narrowly escaped an attempted kidnapping, prompting an immediate campus‑wide alert.

According to the report received by the University Student Association (US🅰️) Public Relations Officer, Victoria Shodimu, the student flagged a dangerous encounter while walking near Hamines, close to the Access Bank shortcut. She observed a long, silver saloon/sedan vehicle bearing a partial plate number beginning with “KSF” and noticed three dark‑complexioned men inside. Alarmingly, a calabash was positioned between the driver and front passenger seats, a detail that raised suspicion of ritualistic activity.

The vehicle, described as a silver sedan, accelerated and fled the scene but is still believed to be circulating within the UCH grounds. Authorities caution that the suspects may still be in the vicinity and could be targeting students and pedestrians moving through shortcuts or isolated pathways.
In response, the Student Association has circulated emergency hotlines for immediate assistance, urging all students, staff, and visitors to avoid solitary walks, especially near shortcuts, and to remain vigilant of any silver vehicle said to match the description. The notice, signed by Public Relations Officer Victoria Shodimu ((link unavailable)) and President Happiness Adeniran ((link unavailable)), lists the following emergency contacts:
- CSO 1 – +234 913 042 2389
- CSO 2 – +234 809 999 9033

- P.A. CSO – +234 810 185 0174
- DPO – +234 816 714 2762
- OC Police Intern – +234 703 398 2923
The message emphasizes that security personnel are on standby and urges the campus community to report any suspicious activity immediately and to avoid walking alone, especially after dusk. The university’s security office is coordinating with the Nigeria Police Force to locate the vehicle and apprehend the suspects.

In a brief statement, the US🅰️ leadership highlighted that the safety of students remains a top priority and urged everyone to share the alert within UCH, UIMSA, and other relevant groups to maximize reach. They also reminded the community that prompt reporting of suspicious vehicles or individuals is crucial in preventing potential crimes.
The incident underscores the importance of collective vigilance and community‑based safety measures. Authorities advise anyone who spots the described vehicle or witnesses any abnormal activity to contact the listed numbers or the nearest security post without delay.
Efforts to trace the vehicle and verify the incident are ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available. The university community is encouraged to stay calm, remain alert, and cooperate fully with security directives to ensure a safe environment for all.
