Tinubu’s case is a good lesson in an application to real life affairs: while helping people, do not leave yourself behind. Tinubu gave all he had at his own expense, but he woke up and found to have lost a grip of his own kingdom. His guard had been taken over by some foreign command, giving credence to the backstabbers from amongst the entrusted Generals of his own guard, who have also ganged up against him and are ready to bring him down at all costs. Ogun state is a good choice for such talks. I was happy he mentioned some of those good things he had done for these people, but I am equally unhappy that the predictions of Afenifere and some others are coming to pass. Anyone who accuses Tinubu of self-adulation, from his utterances and body languages of late, possibly doesn’t know where the journey started from, and where the co-sojourners were originally meant to be. Some recalcitrants need to be taken back on memory lane, perhaps conscience will be awaken in them and strike their minds.

Unfortunately, politics rarely appreciates history. Was Tinubu unaware of this? No, he was. This is evident in his philosophy: “I plan for betrayal long before those that would bring it would think about it. I plan for forgiveness and reunion……”. But did the Jagaban of Borgu ever envisage betrayals of this magnanimity in his presidential ambition? Definitely, NO. Obviously, Jagaban’s resilience is being challenged, and his late rare reactions and blunt confrontations are undeceptively an expression of his frustrations. But the Jagaban I know would not have been so greenhorny to allow himself dance naked in the marketplace; if the mission wouldn’t be possible, he would have bowed out. Though, I may be wrong eventually for the first time, in my confidence in Tinubu’s political sagacity, for I am not God.

Buhari and many Northerners have expressly shown how best to treat an average Northerner, and I am sad this is being learnt through the political itineraries of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It is the third time Yorubas would suffer this in the hands of the Northern people of this country. Awolowo’s and Abiola’s cases are still as fresh in our hearts as recent happenings. When the agitation for Yoruba Nation was birthed some years ago, a good number of us patriotically condemned the movement and tamed its advocates in our desperate bid to sustain the Federation under the sovereign unity of our diversified strength of purpose. We preached and upheld the sanity of being one detribalized citizenry under this Republic, and the sanctity of our Protectorate. To most aggrieved Southerners, the only Asiwaju’s sin is his support for, and imposition of, a Hausa/Fulani man to take over the affairs of the country in 2015, against a Southerner, which ordinarily is reasonable in a nation that finds itself in situations like ours.

Asiwaju was used by all of them to gain power in 2015, but he was subsequently blocked from interacting with the government he brought into power. When the need was necessary again in 2019, he was approached and brought back to the stage. Yet, he never reminded them of what was done to him in the past; he danced for them and helped them steal the show for one other time. Obviously, a number of his own foot soldiers would have been eroded by the impending defeat by the opposition, if he had chosen not to take to arms again. And again, when his time came and he indicated interest to lead the government (meritoriously which shouldn’t have cost him any intra-party consultation), they are scheming to deny him; but yet again, they don’t want him to leave the party, so that they can again leverage on his political structure, acumen, finance and other tools to win the 2023 general elections.

But Buhari and his likes in this schematic plot shouldn’t be blamed entirely for their egoistic wish of retaining power in their corridor or alternatively wanting a president whose government they would have a grip of; their wish has only been favoured by the once-upon-a-time faceless ingrates, both of Yoruba and other extractions, who have been beneficiaries of the goodwill of Asiwaju, whom the latter gave a face and decorated to become the brides everyone admires today. The political attrition that Asiwaju is being challenged with today is a veteran home-based orchestration that was successful in corrupting, luring and finally conquering a number of men from the Asiwaju’s Battalion. Afenifere has not relented in its unpatriotic mission to destroying Tinubu.

But you people aren’t GOD; our fingers remain crossed until the party’s primary election is finally gone!
