Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) has long become a vital and formidable pressure group in the country, which in its own capacity and character, always stands with the working forces and general masses while unbearable conditions become prevalent.

NLC and its executive members are known to be people of integrity, nobility and impeccable character, who do not allow their hands to be soiled by the public office holders.
It is crystal clear that NLC has its modus operandi, ethical and legal standards which compel it to maintain honesty, sincerity, transparency and patriotism against issues and government policies that would bring adverse effects to the wellbeing of both workers and masses.
Gone are the days, while NLC and its sister Interest Group(Trade Union Congress) had to stand formidably and patriotically against government’s draconian policy aimed at bringing hardship to the masses.
Unlike now that both NLC and TUC have become the toothless bulldogs and appendages of governments at all levels, which cannot act purposely and patriotically on reasons they were founded.

Obviously, NLC should not pretend that it has no knowledge nor keeps abreast of the current scarcity of the petroleum product and epileptic electricity across the length and breadth of the country.
Although,APC led administration at the centre had once come up with newest adjectival word(adulterated) fuel, while many had previously complained that the petroleum product they were buying then orchestrated development of mechanical faults to their vehicles, nobody felt bitter then despite it was an adulterated fuel but is available at all filling stations.
It is now disheartening and worrisome that both pure and adulterated fuel is no longer available, which in consequence make its users to maintain long hours of queue at respective filling stations across the country.
As this hardship of fuel scarcity persists, The Managing Director, Nigeria National Petroleum Commission(NNPC), Mallam Mele Kyari and Minister of Petroleum, Timipre Sylver have not specifically come out boldly to expatiate the reasons that orchestrate the scarcity of fuel.
Where is NLC Chairman, Comrade Ayuba Phillip Waba?, why is he keeping quiet? and has NLC ceased to exist in Nigeria?. These and many other questions are expected to be answered by him.
We have to remind him for the sake of history, that it is because of issues and government’s artificially created hardship like what Nigerians are experiencing now, NLC was birthed.
It is high time Comrade Ayuba Waba told the public why he is becoming silent and fails to stage protest and opposition against hardship that keeps pushing the masses to the wall.
He and his executive members have stylistically and diplomatically become toothless bulldogs and appendages of governments who cannot challenge nor against them on any policy that is unfavourable to the workers and general masses.
The country has never had it bad like this, while Nigerians are no longer living but existing, imagine the current scarcity of fuel, epileptic electricity and absence of basic amenities which are to be provided by government for the benefit of masses.
When NLC, the only formidable and recognised pressure group cannot speak against government’s orchestration of hardship, who else would now stand for the masses?.
This in actual sense is telling us that NLC has gone into extinction and can’t function on purpose it was founded.
