The Oyo State Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Prof. Raphael Afonja after being in isolation for 55 days had eventually tested negative to Coronavirus Pandemic which he earlier tested positive.
The Honourable Commissioner in an interview with Mayor Isaac Brown on Flash FM, Ibadan spoke on his ordeal about the virus, stressing that he personally viewed it as malaria or typhoid as his first test of diagnoses
Adding that he was being treated for fever, but as time went on he felt the fever was taking too long and he opted taking the COVID-19 test which came out positive, and since then, he had been on isolation and receiving treatments for the virus.
He said, “tests were continually going on to confirm his state, which he said about ten times until the last one which presented him negative”.
“Prof. Raphael Afonja who was in isolation for over a month agreed that there are so many people with the virus who think they only have fever like he had thought too; while some who don’t even have any symptom are active carriers of this virus too.
He went ahead to once again sent his condolence to the family of the former Governor of the State, Senator Abiola Ajimibi who passed on from being hit by the same Coronavirus.
He also advised everyone to take the issue of COVID-19 seriously by following the strict measures to prevent the spread of the virus.
The Commissioner revealed in the interview that he is back to office today to attend to matters that arose during his absence such as vehicles’ diversion, park management system, ticket racketeering and diversion of treasury funds among others
