…Lists pre- and post-2023 achievements, says assess representatives by performance
In a strategic community engagement and political mobilization drive ahead of the 2027 general elections, Hon. Engr. Dr. Aderemi Abas Oseni, the member representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and APC Oyo South Senatorial Candidate, has visited Agbowo communities in Ibadan, where he engaged residents, community leaders, artisans and members of various associations on community development and political representation.
The visit, which drew a mammoth crowd, brought together key stakeholders, including community leaders, members of landlords’ associations, hairdressers, pepper sellers, tailors, market women, religious leaders, and APC members, among other interest groups.

The gathering, which commenced with thanksgiving songs and prayers led by Imam Alh. Mohammed Olaoshebikan, was charged with excitement as residents trooped out to receive the federal lawmaker.
Welcoming Hon. Remi Oseni to the communities, the Community Chairman, Chief Mogbojubola, expressed profound appreciation for his visit despite his late arrival. He also highlighted the impact of the prevailing economic challenges on residents and appealed for urgent intervention.

In his address, Chief Mogbojubola appealed for the provision of two transformers across the various zones in Agbowo, solar-powered streetlights, boreholes and employment opportunities for youths, stressing the need for improved infrastructure and economic empowerment within the communities.

Speaking during the engagement, Hon. Remi Oseni thanked God Almighty for the opportunity to meet with the residents and appreciated the organisers, the Baale, presidents of the various zones, members of the hairdressers’ association, clerics, traders and APC members for their presence and patience.
He tendered an unreserved apology for arriving late, appreciating the audience for their understanding and for waiting patiently for several hours.
Hon. Remi Oseni said his visit was driven by two major objectives; to engage the people on the importance of electoral participation and to encourage them to critically assess the performance of elected representatives before casting their votes.
He urged residents to take their voting responsibilities seriously, emphasising that the electorate should evaluate public officeholders based on their achievements and tangible contributions to society rather than mere promises and political rhetoric.

The federal lawmaker maintained that while anyone could go to Abuja to represent the people, the critical issue was what such representatives had accomplished after spending four years in office.
Highlighting his background as an engineer and entrepreneur, Hon. Aderemi Abas Oseni described himself as a self-made businessman who established his company immediately after completing his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
He said his business, which has operated for about 30 years, expanded from engineering services into the oil and gas sector, creating employment opportunities for thousands of youths and other Nigerians across the country.
He acknowledged the influence of prominent Nigerian entrepreneurs, including Dr. Mike Adenuga and Mr. Femi Otedola, on his personal and professional development, noting that their resilience and business acumen inspired him to grow his own enterprise.

Reflecting on the 2023 general elections, Hon. Remi Oseni stated that he won all the polling units where he contested, adding that the votes recorded for him aligned with those of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Sharafadeen Alli, describing the outcome as a remarkable and unprecedented electoral record in the constituency.
The lawmaker highlighted several projects and interventions he facilitated both before and after the 2023 elections as evidence of his commitment to grassroots development.
According to him, his pre-election interventions included 11 roads, 10 transformers, four health centres, bridges and numerous boreholes, alongside other community development initiatives executed across Ido and Ibarapa East Local Governments.
Speaking on his post-election achievements as a sitting member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Remi Oseni said he provided grants of N1 million each to 82 youths to support their businesses and economic activities, a move he said was aimed at tackling unemployment and youth restiveness.

He further listed the construction of two health centres and three schools, payment for 2,000 WAEC examination forms and 1,500 JAMB forms, as well as scholarships for outstanding students to pursue higher education.
Hon. Remi Oseni also said he sponsored about 64 students in secondary and tertiary institutions and facilitated approximately 1,000 employment opportunities for youths in both public and private sectors.
On agriculture, he disclosed that he supported farmers with six truckloads of fertilisers, chemicals and farm machinery as part of efforts to strengthen agricultural productivity and ensure food security.
He added that nine roads are currently under construction, while plans are underway for another 11 roads to be executed before the end of his current tenure.

Other interventions he mentioned included the construction of five mosques, sponsorship of 13 persons on pilgrimage to Mecca, establishment of ICT centres and financial support running into millions of naira for market women to boost their trading capital.
Hon. Remi Oseni also addressed concerns surrounding the distribution of transformers, claiming that whenever he provided one for a community, his political opponents sometimes brought their own transformers shortly afterwards in a bid to score political points.
At the climax of the engagement, the lawmaker appealed passionately to the residents to support him and other APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.
He urged the people to turn out massively on January 16, as stated during the gathering, to vote for him and APC candidates across the various levels of government, from the presidency to the State Houses of Assembly.
In a major show of support for community development, Hon. Remi Oseni donated the sum of N25 million to support the community and several associations present in their businesses and economic activities.
He also announced the donation of one transformer as requested by the central chairman of the landlord association, a gesture that attracted loud applause and jubilation from the mammoth crowd.

The visit provided a veritable opportunity for community stakeholders to present their developmental needs and for the lawmaker to outline his record of service, political aspirations and appeal for continued support ahead of the crucial 2027 general elections.
Residents who spoke at the event commended Hon. Engr. Dr. Aderemi Abas Oseni for his accessibility, generosity and impactful representation, pledging their readiness to support him and the APC in the next election.
