The All Progressives Congress, APC, has officially signaled full readiness for the 2027 general elections with the constitution of its Presidential Campaign Council, as party leaders pledged to run a strictly issue-based campaign anchored on empirical achievements and sustainable policy blueprints.
This was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem, AKK, a former Oyo State Governorship Aspirant, who described the unveiling of the council as a clear demonstration of the party’s organisational discipline and strategic preparedness ahead of the polls.
Dr. Kareem welcomed the timely release of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, noting that it heralds the commencement of full-scale political engagements, rigorous grassroots mobilisation, and comprehensive campaign activities nationwide. He said the development aligns perfectly with the revised timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which scheduled the commencement of campaigns for Presidential and National Assembly elections to begin on August 19, 2026.
“The prompt assembly of this formidable council of dedicated party stalwarts underscores the APC’s proactive readiness to take the bull by the horns, engage Nigerians constructively, and secure a decisive victory in the forthcoming polls,” he stated.
According to the former governorship aspirant, the composition of the campaign council is an exact statement of intent and reflects the APC’s usual preparedness. He explained that the team, comprising tested technocrats, experienced political strategists, and passionate progressives, shows that the party is not resting on its laurels but is prepared to traverse every region, state, and local government area to deeply engage the electorate and consolidate the progressive mandate.
Dr. Kareem stressed that the 2027 elections must be a contest of ideas, verifiable track records, and sustainable visions for Nigeria’s future. He argued that the era of driving voter sentiments with empty rhetoric, impractical promises, and sentimental posturing is over, as the Nigerian electorate has matured and now demands substance over superficiality.
“Our campaigns and all associated activities must be exclusively populated by workable ideas and a clear articulation of what the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has achieved, how these policies are practically serving the people, and our concrete blueprints for expanding on these foundations,” he said.
He noted that the APC has a wealth of monumental achievements to campaign with, ranging from bold economic reforms to extensive infrastructural development under President Tinubu’s visionary leadership. However, he added that communicating these achievements must be clear, empathetic, and grounded in the reality of citizens.
“We must articulate how our progressive agenda directly translates into improved livelihoods, enhanced security, and sustained economic growth. Our mandate is to offer promises that are not only appealing but genuinely practicable, and to ensure that our governance model remains deeply rooted in competence and verifiable results,” Dr. Kareem said.
Turning to Oyo State, the APC chieftain called on all party faithful, stakeholders, and grassroots mobilisers to embrace issue-based and ideologically driven campaigning. He urged members to close ranks, put aside internal grievances, and build a cohesive and impenetrable front ahead of the elections.
“There is no doubt that by aligning our local messaging with the broader national achievements of our great party and presenting practical, localised solutions to the people of Oyo State, we will undeniably secure victory and usher in the much-needed progressive governance our state so deeply deserves,” he added.
Dr. Kareem concluded by reaffirming his commitment to the success of the APC in 2027, charging party members to focus on engagement, mobilisation, and delivery of the party’s message at the grassroots.
