Today, the people of Oyo State join family, friends, political associates, and well-wishers across Nigeria to celebrate a quintessential administrator, scholar, and political leader, Professor Daud Kehinde Sangodoyin, on the occasion of his birthday.
In a congratulatory message signed by Hon. Busari Olayemi, Director-General, Oyo State Liaison Office, Lagos/Abuja, Professor Sangodoyin was described as “a rare blend of academic brilliance, technocratic expertise, and unwavering commitment to public service” whose footprint across successive Oyo State cabinets remains a reference point for purposeful governance.
Prof. Sangodoyin’s journey in public service reflects dedication, versatility, and capacity to deliver results across critical sectors of the state economy.
He was first appointed as Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology in August 2019, where he laid early groundwork for policy alignment in the education sector. In January 2020, he was redeployed to Establishment and Training, a portfolio where he brought discipline, professionalism, and human capital development to the core of the civil service.
By December 2020, his competence earned him a strategic move to Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, a ministry central to the state’s physical development agenda. In that capacity, he supervised key interventions that enhanced road infrastructure, urban mobility, and public utilities, aligning with the administration’s vision of a modern Oyo State.
Following the cabinet reshuffle effective May 5, 2025, Prof. Sangodoyin was reassigned as Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources. In this role, he has been at the forefront of driving Oyo State’s energy reforms and expanding access to power and solid mineral development.
In further recognition of his expertise, he was in March 2026 appointed as the Acting Chairman of the Oyo State Electricity Regulatory Commission, OYSERC, a critical agency positioned to regulate, expand, and deepen electricity access for homes, businesses, and industries in the state.
Beyond his technocratic roles, Professor Sangodoyin is also recognized as a political leader with a clear vision for Oyo State. He previously contested as a Governorship Aspirant under the Allied People’s Movement, APM, ahead of the 2027 election cycle. His aspiration was rooted in his belief that Oyo State deserves leadership driven by knowledge, experience, and service to the people.
His contributions across four different ministries within one administration are a testament to his adaptability, loyalty, and the trust reposed in him by the leadership of the state.
In his birthday message, Hon. Busari Olayemi lauded Prof. Sangodoyin for being “a builder of institutions, a promoter of good governance, and a leader who continues to inspire the younger generation with his depth of knowledge and humility.”
“On behalf of the Oyo State Liaison Office, Lagos/Abuja, I celebrate an uncommon leader. Professor Sangodoyin represents the best of Oyo intellect, industry, and integrity. As he marks another year, we pray that Almighty Allah continues to grant him sound health, wisdom, and greater opportunities to serve our dear state and country,” the statement read.
The DG further prayed that the celebrant’s new age would bring more impact, influence, and fulfillment in his service to humanity and to the development of Oyo State.
As Professor Daud Sangodoyin marks his birthday today, Oyo State celebrates not just a former commissioner, but a statesman whose career trajectory from Education to Establishment, Public Works to Energy, and now to Electricity Regulation, embodies the spirit of service, innovation, and progressive governance.
His life remains an inspiration that leadership is about competence, consistency, and commitment to the people.
