The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has formally consolidated its governorship ticket for the 2027 general elections with the presentation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nomination form to Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, PhD, alongside the unveiling of Hon. Adesoji Michael Adedeji as his running mate.
The development, described by party leaders as a defining moment in the party’s quest to reclaim power in the state, was hailed on Saturday, July 4, 2026, by former APC governorship aspirant, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK), who called on all aggrieved members to sheathe their swords and rally behind the newly validated ticket.
In a comprehensive political statement titled “United for Victory”, Dr. Kareem declared that the presentation of the INEC form to Senator Alli, who currently represents Oyo South Senatorial District, fundamentally affirms his status as the APC gubernatorial flag-bearer for Oyo State. He noted that the strategic choice of Hon. Adedeji as deputy further strengthens the party’s electoral architecture ahead of the polls.
“I extend my most profound congratulations to this formidable duo on this historic mandate,” Dr. Kareem stated. “Now that the ticket is fully forged and validated, it is time for us to come together as a family and unite as one formidable and indivisible broom. Our singular, non-negotiable objective is to systematically wipe away the malfeasance, administrative impunity, and policy retrogression currently holding sway in the Agodi Government House.”
Acknowledging the emotions that trailed the party’s primary process, Dr. Kareem, who was also an aspirant for the governorship seat, appealed directly to all contenders and their supporters to prioritise the collective interest of the party above personal grievances.
“I completely understand that every aspirant who vied for one ticket or the other, especially the gubernatorial seat, has valid reasons to feel frustrated by the imperfections of the process,” he said. “I am capable of making this heartfelt appeal precisely because I know exactly what you feel; I am one of you. However, we must urgently look at the greater prize, which is deeply time-sensitive. We cannot afford the catastrophic luxury of being shut out of government for another four or eight years.”
The former aspirant stressed that the people of Oyo State deserve what he described as “the high-quality governance we are historically known to provide as Progressives,” and urged every dissenting voice to return to the fold.
With the party leadership’s direction now “unequivocally clear,” Dr. Kareem directed all ward coordinators, grassroots mobilisers and party faithful across the 33 local government areas of the state to commence immediate mobilisation for Senator Alli and all other APC candidates.
“The APC remains the undisputed bastion of authentic good governance in Nigeria. It is the only political institution populated with the ideological depth and welfarist philosophy capable of delivering the best for the masses,” he added.
Dr. Kareem further announced the activation of his political structure, the Aseyori Support Group, vowing to take the campaign of the APC to every household in the state.
“I possess absolute trust in their combined intellectual capacity, wealth of administrative experience, and political pedigree to not only win this election but to deliver on every progressive promise made to the great people of Oyo State,” he said of the Alli-Adedeji ticket.
“As I have always done, I will lead by example. I am immediately activating and mobilising all members of my formidable Aseyori Support Group. We will enter every community, knock on every door, engage every household, and meticulously preach the gospel of the APC to ensure resounding victory at the polls.”
Framing the 2027 contest as more than an election, Dr. Kareem said the APC is on a mission to “rescue the soul of Oyo State, restore our agricultural and industrial dominance, and build a ‘Realistic Tomorrow’ that guarantees prosperity for all.”
He warned that political adversaries are waiting for internal divisions to weaken the party, and urged members to present “a unified, impenetrable front.”
“The sun is rising on Oyo State, and under the APC, it will shine brighter than ever before,” he concluded, signing off with the party slogan: “APC… PROGRESS! AKK! Aseyori ni tiwa. AKK!! Ajọṣe, Ajoje. AKK!!! A Task That Must Be Done.”
The official unveiling of the APC ticket is expected to kick-start full-scale political activities across Oyo State as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections.
