LONDON, Ibadan – Former Oyo State Governorship Aspirant, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem, popularly known as AKK, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaji Teslim Ajimobi, describing him as a man of faith, leadership, integrity, and selfless service to Islam and humanity.
In a condolence message issued on Saturday, June 27, 2026, Dr. Kareem said the news of Alhaji Ajimobi’s death came with “profound sadness and a deep sense of personal loss,” noting that the deceased was a close associate with whom he shared decades of friendship, Islamic service, and community leadership.
Dr. Kareem recalled that he had known Alhaji Ajimobi for several decades, with their relationship built on mutual respect, trust, and a shared commitment to the propagation of Islam and the advancement of the Muslim community in the United Kingdom.
During his tenure as Chief Imam of Dhiyah Haq Islamic Society of Nigeria, UK Branch, Dr. Kareem said he worked closely with Alhaji Ajimobi, who served with distinction as a two-term President of the organisation.
“Those years remain among the most memorable periods of my Islamic leadership. Together, we pursued the noble objectives of strengthening the society, promoting Islamic education, fostering unity among members, and serving the Muslim community with sincerity, dedication, and the fear of Allah,” AKK stated.
He noted that although their organisational paths later diverged after he established Wabillahi Taofeeq Islamic Mission Worldwide, the mutual respect, friendship, and brotherhood between them never diminished.
Reflecting on their last interaction, Dr. Kareem said he had a lengthy telephone conversation with Alhaji Ajimobi during his recent gubernatorial consultation tour in the United Kingdom.
“We spoke with the warmth and brotherhood that had characterised our relationship over the years. We both looked forward to meeting in person and made genuine plans to do so. Sadly, circumstances prevented that meeting before my departure,” he said.
He described the call as their “farewell in this world,” adding that he finds solace in the fact that their final exchange was one of mutual respect, goodwill, and shared concern for the progress of Islam and community well-being.
Dr. Kareem described the late Alhaji Ajimobi as a man of integrity, wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to Islam. He said the deceased understood that leadership is an Amanah, a sacred trust, which he discharged with sincerity, fairness, and dedication.
“His contributions to the growth of Dhiyah Haq Islamic Society and his positive influence on the wider Muslim community will remain part of his enduring legacy. True greatness is measured not by wealth or titles but by the positive difference one leaves behind, and Alhaji Teslim Ajimobi undoubtedly lived such a life,” he added.
Dr. Kareem extended heartfelt condolences to Alhaji Ajimobi’s wife, children, grandchildren, and the entire Ajimobi family, praying that Almighty Allah grants them Sabr and comfort.
He also condoled with the leadership and members of Dhiyah Haq Islamic Society of Nigeria, UK Branch; Wabillahi Taofeeq Islamic Mission Worldwide; the All Progressives Congress APC; political associates; the Nigerian community in the UK; the wider Nigerian diaspora; and the Muslim Ummah across the world.
Quoting Surah Al-Baqarah 2:156, he said: “Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return.”
In conclusion, Dr. Kolapo Kareem Adewale prayed that Allah (SWT) forgives Alhaji Ajimobi’s shortcomings, accepts his righteous deeds, illuminates his grave, and admits him into Jannatul Firdaus.
“May Allah also preserve the noble legacy he leaves behind, reward those who continue his good works, and make his life’s service an everlasting source of Sadaqah Jariyah. May Allah grant Alhaji Teslim Ajimobi Al-Jannah Firdaus and grant his family the strength to bear this irreparable loss. Ameen,” he prayed.
Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.
