Ibadan, Oyo State – The City Boy Movement in Oyo State has declared that its structure and grassroots base will remain intact and unshaken, regardless of any internal divisions that may arise within the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Friday and signed by the State Coordinator, Chief Ahmed Ajibola, the movement said its foundation is built on ideology, loyalty, and commitment to progressive governance, rather than on transient political interests or personal gains.

“Even if the OYO APC should ever experience internal divisions, one thing remains certain, the City Boy Movement will still stand strong,” Chief Ajibola stated.
According to him, the movement was conceived as more than a political structure. It functions as a network of committed young Nigerians who believe in continuity, development, youth empowerment, and the long-term future of the nation.
“Our movement was not built on temporary interests, political convenience, or personal gain. It was built on loyalty, vision, grassroots connection, and belief in progressive leadership,” he said.

Ajibola noted that political disagreements are a natural feature of every major political party globally, but movements anchored on genuine conviction and shared values do not collapse under pressure.
“In Oyo State and across Nigeria, we have continued to mobilize, educate, engage, and inspire young people to participate actively in governance and nation-building,” he added. “Our mission goes beyond politics; it is about creating a generation that believes in leadership, responsibility, and service.”
The coordinator stressed that the City Boy Movement’s unity is rooted in a common purpose, supporting progressive governance and safeguarding the democratic future of Nigeria.
“No matter the challenges, no matter the noise, and no matter the distractions, City Boys remain united by a common purpose, to support progressive governance and protect the future of our democracy,” the statement read.
He acknowledged that leaders may disagree and interests may clash within political circles, but maintained that the spirit and cohesion of the City Boy Movement remain unshaken.
“We are not just following a trend. We are building a legacy. And as long as there are young people who believe in progress, resilience, and national development, the City Boy Movement will continue to grow stronger,” Ajibola said.
The City Boy Movement has been visible in Oyo State politics in recent years, focusing on grassroots mobilization and youth engagement within the APC. Political observers note that its emphasis on ideology and continuity positions it as a notable structure ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
The statement comes amid ongoing realignments and consultations within Oyo APC as stakeholders begin early positioning for the 2027 governorship and legislative elections.
Signed,
