In commemoration of this year’s Workers’ Day, the Federal Lawmaker representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency, Folajimi Oyekunle, has paid glowing tribute to Nigerian workers and indeed workers across the globe, with special recognition to the industrious people of Ibadan North.
In a statement made available to the press through his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Akinwale Bodija, the lawmaker emphasized that the essence of work goes beyond mere labour, describing it as a source of dignity, fulfillment, and purpose.
According to him, “for every labour, there must be a sweet rest,” noting that in today’s evolving world, what many refer to as labour should rather be seen as a passion-driven engagement that sustains livelihoods and builds society. He stressed that when individuals genuinely enjoy what they do—especially when it provides for their needs—it transcends the traditional notion of labour and becomes a fulfilling life pursuit.
Hon. Oyekunle commended the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, for fostering a worker-friendly environment that has made the state’s workforce not only productive but also accommodating and enjoyable. He noted that Oyo State has increasingly become a benchmark for others, as workers operate in an atmosphere that encourages growth, stability, and satisfaction.
The federal lawmaker further extolled workers for their unwavering resilience, dedication, and invaluable contributions to nation-building, particularly in challenging times. He acknowledged their sacrifices and steadfast commitment, which continue to drive progress at both the state and national levels.
He concluded by wishing all workers many more years of impactful service, urging them to remain steadfast while finding fulfillment and satisfaction in all they do.
“Today, we celebrate not just the effort, but the spirit behind the effort—the passion, the resilience, and the hope that every worker brings to the table,” he added.
