Ibadan, Oyo State — Sunday, April 26, 2026 – In a defining political moment that has set the tone for the 2027 general elections in Oyo State, Hon. Engr. Aderemi Abass Oseni, Member representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, on Sunday formally declared his intention to contest the Oyo South Senatorial District seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The declaration, held at the historic Recreation Club Ground, Sabo, Ibadan, drew a formidable convergence of party stalwarts, grassroots mobilizers, youth groups, women leaders, and community stakeholders from across the nine local government areas that constitute Oyo South. The atmosphere was charged with political symbolism, as chants of solidarity and waves of APC insignia underscored the early momentum building around Remi Oseni’s senatorial ambition.
Addressing the mammoth crowd, Hon. Aderemi Abas Oseni was unequivocal that his senatorial aspiration transcends personal ambition, describing it instead as a higher call to duty and a strategic expansion of his covenant of service with the people.
“This is not a pursuit of title or privilege. It is a response to a collective call to deepen the impact of representation and to scale up the dividends of democracy for every community in Oyo South,” Remi Oseni declared.
He disclosed that the decision to join the race was reached after extensive consultations with traditional institutions, religious leaders, party elders, youth and women groups, as well as critical stakeholders across Ibadan North, Ibadan North-East, Ibadan North-West, Ibadan South-East, Ibadan South-West, Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa North, and Ido Local Government Areas.
Hon. Aderemi Abas Oseni, a ranking federal lawmaker, leveraged the occasion to present his stewardship scorecard in the House of Representatives, citing measurable interventions that have redefined governance delivery in Ido/Ibarapa East. These include Facilitation and execution of critical road construction and rehabilitation projects to enhance rural-urban connectivity, Deployment of scholarship schemes, distribution of educational materials, and renovation of classroom blocks to strengthen foundational learning, Medical outreaches, provision of hospital equipment, and health insurance support for vulnerable constituents, and Targeted skills acquisition, start-up grants, and micro-enterprise support for women and youths to stimulate local economies.
“These milestones are not endpoints but blueprints. The model that has worked in Ido/Ibarapa East can and will be replicated across Oyo South when entrusted with a broader mandate,” he asserted.
The APC lawmaker articulated a five-point legislative agenda for Oyo South anchored on infrastructural equity, quality representation, youth and women inclusion, agricultural revitalization, and strategic federal lobbying.
“My vision is consistent and has been from my days as a grassroots mobilizer to my current role in the National Assembly. Service that touches lives, impact that outlives politics, and representation that gives every voice a seat at the table,” Oseni said.
He further pledged to deploy his experience as Chairman of the FERMA Committee to attract federal presence, unlock road infrastructure financing, and ensure that Oyo South commands its fair share of national developmental attention.
In a strong political statement, Hon. Aderemi Oseni reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the All Progressives Congress and its national leadership, pledging total commitment to the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in 2027.
“Our senatorial aspiration is inseparable from the success of our party at the national level. I am committed to mobilizing every ward, every polling unit, and every stakeholder in Oyo South to secure a resounding victory for President Tinubu and the APC in 2027,” he stated.
He described the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda as “a national recovery blueprint that requires the support of tested, capable, and loyal legislators at the red chamber.”
In what political observers described as a statesmanlike tone, Remi Oseni charged APC members across Oyo State to prioritize collective victory above individual aspirations, warning that internal discord remains the greatest threat to the party’s success.
“No individual ambition, including mine, is greater than the collective interest and survival of our great party. Unity is not an option going into 2027, it is our only winning strategy,” he cautioned.
The declaration received a significant boost with the presence and remarks of the incumbent Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District and APC governorship hopeful, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli.
Senator Alli expressed strong optimism about the APC’s electoral fortunes in 2027, projecting a comprehensive sweep of the governorship, National Assembly, and State House of Assembly seats in Oyo State.
He commended Oseni’s grassroots-oriented leadership and developmental footprint in Ido/Ibarapa East, describing him as “a proven performer with the capacity to scale impact.”
“The transformation we have witnessed in Ido/Ibarapa East under Hon. Oseni’s watch is a testament to what is possible when competence meets compassion. I am confident that Oyo South will benefit immensely if this template is expanded across the district,” Senator Alli noted.
He further called for cohesion within the party, stressing that “with unity of purpose and strategic mobilization, the APC will reclaim Oyo State and deliver people-centered governance at all levels.”
Sunday’s declaration at Sabo has effectively signaled the commencement of high-stakes political realignments in Oyo South ahead of 2027. Analysts posit that Hon.
