Otunba Oluseye Opatoki has formally declared his intention to contest for the Oyo State governorship seat in the 2027 general election, making the announcement today at Ogbongan, in Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The declaration drew a large gathering of supporters, community members, and political associates who turned out to witness what he described as a defining moment in his political journey.
Otunba Oluseye Opatoki announced while addressing the audience, stating clearly that his visit was to officially signal his entry into the governorship race.
He emphasized that his aspiration is under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reaffirming his loyalty and political alignment within the party structure.
According to him, the decision to contest was driven by a desire to serve and contribute meaningfully to the development of Oyo State.
He said his ambition is not personal but rooted in a commitment to improving governance and delivering better opportunities for the people.
In his words, he declared: “I am here today to formally declare my intention to contest for the governorship position in the 2027 election. That is the purpose of my visit today.”
Opatoki expressed deep appreciation for the reception he received, describing it as overwhelming and encouraging.
He noted that the turnout and enthusiasm reflected strong acceptance from the grassroots and renewed confidence in his political journey.
According to him, “I am very happy with the reception I have received here today. The reception is amazing. This shows that my people accept me.”
He further stated that the level of preparedness and willingness shown by supporters indicated that his ambition has gained significant traction.
He added that many people had long anticipated his declaration and were ready to contribute toward its success.
“The people have been waiting for this moment, and now it has become a reality. Everyone is ready to support and contribute their quota to make this journey successful,” he said.
Otunba Oluseye Opatoki also used the occasion to commend the leadership style and developmental achievements of the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, describing him as a performance-driven leader whose governance has positively impacted the state.
He stated that Governor Makinde’s administration has set a standard of purposeful leadership and people-oriented governance that continues to benefit residents across the state.
Opatoki further declared that his political alignment is guided by the best interest of Oyo State, adding that wherever Governor Makinde goes politically, he would follow and align with him in the collective interest of the state’s progress and development.
He emphasized that his support for the governor is rooted in unity, stability, and a shared vision for sustained growth in Oyo State.
The atmosphere at the event was filled with excitement as residents and supporters responded with cheers and expressions of solidarity during his address.
Present at the Ward 2 stakeholders’ meeting with Oyo State governorship aspirant, Otunba Seye Opatoki, were several party leaders and stakeholders.


Among those in attendance were Comrade Akinlolu Adesina, Hon. Moroof Fagbemi, and the former Ward 2 Councillor as well as immediate past Local Government PRO, Hon. Toba Oloyede.


Also present was the former Supervisory Councillor and current PDP Local Government PRO, Hon. Olaoluwa Oyegoke Faleye, alongside the current Ward 2 Councillor, Hon. Olukunle Mathew Oluwafemi. The immediate past Ward 2 Councillor also attended.
Other notable attendees included Hon. Hammed Ologunebi, the Senior Special Assistant to the Akinyele Local Government Chairman on Community Matters, and Comrade Abiodun Adejare, the PDP Ward 2 Chairman.

Also in attendance were Alhaji Omonije Wasiu, immediate past Ward 2 Chairman; Ishola Akinwumi James, former Ward 2 Youth Leader; and Comrade John Ademola Adeyemi.

Others included Hon. Okekunle Bayo, former Supervisory Councillor for Education, and Ishola Akindele Amos, the current Ward 2 Vice Chairman.
The event concluded with continued expressions of support from attendees, as Opatoki called for unity, cooperation, and sustained engagement as preparations toward the 2027 elections begin in earnest.
