Otunba Oluseye Opatoki, a governorship aspirant in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 elections, has extended warm greetings to Christians in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of Palm Sunday, calling for renewed prayers for peace, unity, and progress.
In a statement released on Sunday, Otunba Oluseye Opatoki joined the Christian faithful in commemorating the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, describing the day as a significant moment that marks the beginning of the Holy Week and a period of deep spiritual reflection for believers.
He noted that Palm Sunday symbolizes humility, sacrifice, and unwavering faith, values he said remain essential not only in religious life but also in governance and leadership.
According to him, the lessons drawn from the life and teachings of Jesus Christ should inspire citizens to embrace compassion, love, and selfless service.
The governorship hopeful emphasized the need for Nigerians, particularly residents of Oyo State, to reflect on these virtues at a time when the nation faces socio-economic and political challenges.
He urged citizens to remain hopeful and steadfast in their faith.
Otunba Opatoki further called on Christians to use the solemn period to pray for the peace, stability, and development of Oyo State and the country at large, stressing that collective prayers and unity of purpose are critical to overcoming present difficulties.
He also expressed optimism that through shared values of love, forgiveness, and mutual respect, communities across the state can foster harmony and build a more inclusive society that benefits all.
While extending his goodwill, Otunba Oluseye Opatoki prayed that the Palm Sunday celebration would bring renewed spiritual strength, joy, and a sense of purpose to Christians, encouraging them to continue serving as agents of positive change in their respective communities.
