The All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, Hon. Engr. Dr. Aderemi Abas Oseni, has issued a bold challenge to anyone contemplating a contest against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in 2027, daring such persons to “come and debate with me.”
Hon. Remi Oseni, who is also the member representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA, made the declaration on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at a well-attended youth engagement meeting of the APC Oyo South Senatorial District held at Tafo Arena, Ijokodo, Poly Road, Ibadan.
The political summit, themed “THE FUTURE IS OURS, AND IT STARTS WITH YOU”, brought together youth leaders from the nine Local Government Areas of Oyo South Senatorial District, alongside key party stakeholders.
In an address that drew thunderous applause, Hon. Remi Oseni dismissed any perceived opposition to President Tinubu’s second-term bid, describing it as unrealistic in the face of the President’s achievements.
“I am not here to campaign. However, only a blind or deaf person will claim not to see or hear what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is doing for Nigeria,” he stated.
“I told some people that the 2027 election will be APC against APC. It is merely a formality for anyone to say they want to contest against the All Progressives Congress, APC, especially against the President.”
He then issued a direct challenge:
“And now, I challenge anyone who believes it is their right to contest against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, in 2027, and who insists that he must not serve a second term as President of Nigeria, to come and debate with me.”
The federal lawmaker stressed that victory in 2027 would be earned through hard work and strategic mobilization, not rhetoric. He reaffirmed his earlier pledge of delivering one million votes for President Tinubu in Oyo State.
“It is not about bragging, but about doing the work. We must work, and we will get the job done. A few months ago, I declared that one million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is sacrosanct, and we will achieve it through hard work, because I believe today that we will succeed,” he said.
Hon. Remi Oseni further positioned Oyo South as a political pacesetter, noting that the youth constitute the backbone of the party’s electoral strategy.
“Oyo State is a Pacesetter, and Oyo South is equally a Pacesetter among all Senatorial Districts. The truth is that about 50 to 55 percent of the support required for the success of our election in 2027 will come from the youth. If we want to succeed in the 2027 elections, Oyo South must set the standard for other Senatorial Districts to follow,” he declared.
In a major assurance to the youths, he promised immediate dividends of democracy and an end to exploitative politics.
“You do not have to wait until we are elected before you begin to enjoy the dividends of democracy. I assure you that even before the election, you will begin to enjoy the dividends of democracy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he assured.
“It is an insult for anyone to work without reward. In the past, the practice of ‘use and dump,’ like scaffolding, was common among youths and women, especially in politics.”
He also took a swipe at political opponents, accusing them of insincerity.
“Some people have been talking nonsense about empowering artisans. They spent eight good years in government without empowering a single artisan. Now that they have heard that I empowered artisans, they are calling them for midnight meetings claiming they want to empower them. They are a bunch of deceivers. A word is enough for the wise.”
Earlier, former APC Secretary in Oyo State, Hon. Abdul-Mojeed Olaoya, commended the youth leadership for the initiative.
“As you conceived the idea of organising a meeting of this magnitude, I believe, and I pray, that you will never regret it. Secondly, let me tell you that with Hon. Aderemi Abas Oseni, I believe we have already won the election, because it feels as though the election is holding tomorrow,” he said.
Also present was the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the APC in Oyo State, Professor Soji Adedeji, who was appreciated by Hon. Aderemi Abass Oseni for his presence.
Other dignitaries at the event included Mr. Niyi Yusuf, Candidate, Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency; Farouk Arisekola Alao, Candidate, Ibadan North Federal Constituency; Mrs. Tolani Adigun Tajudeen, Candidate, Ibadan South West State Constituency I; Mr. Taiwo Adeleke, Candidate, Ido State Constituency; Youth Coordinators from each Local Government, Party Leaders, and other stakeholders.
