A disturbing tale of marital woes has unfolded in a Kaduna Customary Court, where 37-year-old housewife Linda Stephen has filed for divorce citing her husband Felix Stephen’s relentless and forceful sexual advances as the primary reason for her decision. The couple, married for six years, has been embroiled in a tumultuous relationship marked by Felix’s alleged physical abuse and Linda’s emotional distress.
According to Linda’s divorce petition, Felix’s incessant demands for sexual relations, often initiated late at night, have become unbearable. She recounted harrowing episodes where, despite her protests and tears, Felix would not relent, leaving her feeling traumatized and helpless. The situation has allegedly escalated to the point where Linda has had to flee their home, seeking refuge elsewhere.
Furthermore, Linda accused Felix of physical abuse, alleging that he would become violent whenever she declined his advances, even in the presence of their two children. This pattern of behavior has left her feeling trapped and fearful, prompting her to seek legal intervention.

In response, Felix acknowledged Linda’s concerns but expressed his commitment to controlling his sexual urges. He professed his love for Linda and requested the court’s assistance in reconciling their differences rather than granting her divorce request. Felix claimed to have attempted to involve Linda’s family in mediation efforts, but she remained resolute in her decision.

The court, presided over by John Dauda, heard both parties’ testimonies before adjourning the case until May 6, 2025. The presiding judge urged the couple to maintain peace during this period and explore the possibility of reconciliation.
This disturbing case highlights the complexities of marital relationships and the need for mutual respect, understanding, and communication. As the court navigates this delicate situation, it remains to be seen whether reconciliation is possible or if the marriage will ultimately be dissolved.
