Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, has announced that the President of Sierra Leone, His Excellency Julius Maada Bio, will visit Oyo State within the next two weeks. The President’s visit is aimed at exploring the success story of the Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub, which has been transformed into a world-class agribusiness and tourism site.

Governor Makinde made this announcement in his latest newsletter, where he also expressed gratitude to those who sent condolences over the loss of his elder brother, Sunday. The Governor had taken a short break but has since returned to work, with his first port of call being a trip to Ethiopia for the African Business Forum (ABF) 2025.

At the forum, Governor Makinde emphasized Oyo State’s commitment to leveraging the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) to collaborate with African National leaders. He also announced that the state will be going into trade talks with the Republic of Benin, with meetings scheduled to take place within the next month.

The Fasola Agribusiness Industrial Hub has been a flagship project of the Oyo State Government, and its success has attracted attention from within and outside Nigeria. The hub has created jobs, generated revenue, and promoted economic growth in the state.

Governor Makinde also announced plans to replicate the Fasola model on a bigger scale at the Eruwa Agribusiness Industrial Hub, which has already been flagged off. The Governor expressed his commitment to ensuring that Oyo State plays a pivotal role in the sub-regional economy by setting up the right structures that are private-sector driven.
