The residents of Ona-Ara Local Government, Area of Oyo State have accused the former Commissioner for Work and Transport, Prof. Daud Sangodoyin of poor handling of Olorunsogo-Akanran road in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
Hammed Wasiu, an indigene who spoke with naijatodaynew.com lamented over the deplorable condition of Olorunsogo-Akanran road despite its ongoing reconstruction by Oyo State Government currently led by Engr. Seyi Makinde.
Wasiu said, it was so painful and disheartening that the former Commissioner for Work and Transport, Sangodoyin who was saddled with supervision and monitoring of the task by Makinde couldn’t expedite action on it as expected.
He added that, he got knowledge of this while Governor Seyi Makinde visited Ona-Ara for commissioning of transformers procured by Engr. Dotun Sanusi for illumination of the communities.
He said, works had not been perfectly done on the road, after Makinde had asked Sangodoyin to take charge of its thorough supervision and monitoring.
Wasiu enjoined the Governor to intervene, as both Sangodoyin and contractors handling the road are not doing the needful to make the road useful for both motorists and pedestrians.
Another resident, Samuel Adekunle revealed that the continued heavy pour across Ibadanland had exposed the poor condition of the road the more.
He said, the road had become impassable for motorists, motorcyclists and pedestrians, as its slippery condition had restricted people to their respective destinations.
Adekunle said, the people’s inability and failure to ply the road for fend for their means of survival had no doubt created hardship for people.
The resident maintained that, the only part of part of road that people keeps managing is the one that has been partially tarred but which could not contain many motorists and others at once.
He described the situation as unbearable and disheartening as people are usually held in traffic gridlock in their desire to fend their means of survival.
He added, that apart from current situation in the country that orchestrates hardship, the poor state of Olorunsogo-Akanran road had compounded the challenges that are being faced by people.
Adekunle asked Governor Seyi Makinde to come to the aid of Ona-Ara residents whose business activities have been crippled as a result of poor state of Olorunsogo-Akanran road.
He appealed to the Governor to expedite an action that would in no distant time culminate in fast completion of the road.
