Ex Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), OkeOgun Federated Chapel, Oyo State, Prince Semiu Azeez has implored the newly inaugurated executives of the chapel to show undiluted loyalty, unflinching support and however work closely with the State Council led by Comrade Ademola Babalola popularly known as ‘DEMBAB’.
This admonition was contained in an address delivered by Azeez on the occasion of the chapel’s election 2022 held at Greenland Hotel, Iseyin, Oyo State, Tuesday 16th August, 2022.
In his address, ” I want to use this opportunity to appreciate all of us who were founding members of OkeOgun Chapel of NUJ being the only sustainable chapel outside the state capital from 2009 till date. This unforgettable gestures enjoyed from the National body of NUJ led by Comrade Garba Muhammed and Oyo State Council Chairman, our own leader, father, principal and mentor, Comrade Chief Gbenga Opadotun have brought a lot of goodies, not only to the chapels but the entire OkeOgun Zone of Oyo State. We will continue to be grateful to these heroes for making the dream, a reality”.
Earlier, Babalola enjoined members of the chapel to give no room for sentiment and acrimony but oneness, unity and togetherness which are aimed at taking the union to enviable heights.
Calling on those who were elected and inaugurated as the new executives to run governance of inclusiveness that would truly bring everybody onboard for the progress and development of the chapel and its stakeholders.
Hon. Mufutau Abilawon, Executive Chairman, Iseyin Local Government, who was ably represented by Comrade(Prince) Segun Adeyemo enjoined all members of the fourth estate of the realm to continue to adhere strictly to legal and ethical provisions of the pen profession, calling on all the new executives to regard the new assigned tasks as call to serve the chapels and humanity.
He laid emphasis on how the chapel was formed and however implored members to sustain its purpose in order to attain the overall achievements.
Hon. Fasasi Raheem Ajibola(FM), Chairman Iseyin South LCDA appealed to the new executives to sustain the peace initiated by Prince Semiu Azeez and however charged men of pen profession to refrain from attacking politicians via destructive criticism but to ensure engagement in constructive one that would put them on their toes.
In another vein, Comrades Ismail Ogundeji, Khalid Imran and Tolulope Fatunwase emerged Chairman, Secretary and Auditor respectively, in an election which was adjudged to be free, fair and transparent.
The hitch free exercise was moderated by Chairman, Credentials Screening Committee, Comrade Tajudeen Adeniji with comportment of the participants and other well wishers.
The chapel’s election 2022 was well attended by NUJ, Oyo State Council led by Comrade Ademola Babalola, Comrade Sola Oladapo(Secretary), Comrade Akeem Abbas(Treasurer), NUJ, OkeOgun members, Hon.Mufutau Abilawon represented by Comrade(Prince) Segun Adeyemo, Hon. Fasasi Raheem Ajibola, Chairman Iseyin South LCDA, and other well wishers respectively.
