In a historic display of royal appreciation for good governance, His Royal Majesty, Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola, Ajobo Olurin I, the Eleruwa of Eruwa, has conferred the revered chieftaincy titles of Aare Asoludero of Eruwaland and Yeye Asoludero of Eruwaland on His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde FNSE, Executive Governor of Oyo State, and his wife, Her Excellency, Chief Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, respectively.

The conferment, which took place during the grand finale of activities marking the first coronation anniversary of the Eleruwa, has been widely hailed as a significant milestone in the relationship between government and traditional institutions in Oyo State, and a testament to the Makinde administration’s impact across Ibarapaland and beyond.

In a congratulatory statement signed by Otunba Oluseye Nathaniel Oladosu Opatoki, Former PDP Governorship Aspirant in Oyo State 2027, the conferment was described as both timely and well-deserved, coming at a time when Oyo State is witnessing unprecedented transformation under Governor Makinde’s leadership.

“Today, Eruwaland has honoured excellence. The title of Aare Asoludero connotes a frontline defender, a promoter of development, and a unifier of the people. In Governor Makinde, we have found all of these and more. His administration has redefined governance through infrastructure renewal, agricultural revolution, quality education, accessible healthcare, and inclusive politics,” Otunba Opatoki stated.

He noted that the Governor’s commitment to connecting all geo-political zones through road infrastructure, and his deliberate efforts to empower local government and traditional institutions, have earned him the admiration of the people and now, the formal endorsement of the throne.

Otunba Oluseye Opatoki also extended heartfelt congratulations to Her Excellency, Chief Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, on her installation as Yeye Asoludero of Eruwaland, describing the honour as a recognition of her quiet but profound contributions to women empowerment, youth development, and humanitarian service in Oyo State.

“Yeye Asoludero speaks to motherhood, nurturing, and service to community. Her Excellency has demonstrated these virtues with grace and humility. Her support for her husband and her direct interventions in the lives of the vulnerable have made her worthy of this royal crown,” he said.

He added that the joint conferment on the Governor and his wife underscores the importance of partnership in leadership and the role of women in nation-building.

Commending Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola and the entire Eruwa Traditional Council, Otunba Opatoki described the decision as a bold step in strengthening the synergy between the political leadership and traditional authority in Oyo State.

“This gesture reinforces what we already know, that good governance will always be recognized and celebrated. It also sends a strong signal to political actors that traditional rulers remain critical stakeholders in our democratic journey and must be carried along with respect and dignity,” he noted.

He prayed that Almighty God would grant Governor Makinde and his wife wisdom, good health, strength and longevity to continue in their service to humanity and to consolidate the gains of the Omituntun agenda for the benefit of all Oyo indigenes.
