IBADAN, Oyo State – The All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Hon. Aderemi Abas Oseni, has donated a 500KVA transformer and N10 million in support of the 14th Annual Conference of the Ibadan Baptist Conference, as part of efforts to strengthen faith-based institutions and improve community welfare.

Hon. Oseni, who currently represents Ibarapa East/Ido Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, made the donations on Tuesday while addressing participants at the conference held under the theme, “By His Spirit.” He also serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA.

Speaking at the well-attended gathering, the federal lawmaker expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the Ibadan Baptist Conference for the opportunity to address the congregation. He commended the church for its sustained contributions to the spread of the gospel, education, humanitarian services, and other areas of human capital development across Oyo State and Nigeria.

In his address, Oseni emphasized that the numerous challenges confronting society cannot be surmounted by human effort alone, stressing the imperative of divine guidance and the power of the Holy Spirit in both personal and collective affairs.

“Our efforts are important, but human efforts alone are not enough. We need the direction of God and the power of the Holy Spirit to guide us in our individual lives and in the affairs of our communities,” he said.

The APC senatorial hopeful urged Christians to marry faith with responsible civic action, noting that lasting transformation can only be achieved when individuals and communities seek divine direction while taking practical steps to address societal problems.

He further charged members of the Christian community to take a more active interest in politics and governance, describing the vote as a critical instrument for determining the quality of leadership and the direction of the nation.

“Votes count in Nigeria. Therefore, Christians must not remain on the sidelines. We must participate in politics, contribute ideas and collectively seek solutions to the challenges confronting our society. Governance is about the people and the delivery of services that improve their lives,” Oseni stated.

The Oyo South senatorial candidate also called for support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates, arguing that leaders should be evaluated based on their commitment to service, accountability, and the welfare of the people. He maintained that the involvement of responsible and value-driven citizens in politics remains essential to entrenching good governance and ensuring that public offices are used for the collective benefit of the people.

Quoting Proverbs 29:2, Oseni said, “When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice.” He added that such rejoicing must be evident in improved access to quality education, healthcare, potable water, electricity, security, infrastructure, economic empowerment, and good governance.

“When the people have quality representation and can see the impact of government in their daily lives, that is when they will truly rejoice. Our people deserve access to good education, healthcare, potable water, electricity, security, infrastructure and opportunities to improve their livelihoods,” he said.

Hon. Oseni further urged the congregation to remain united and sustain prayers for the nation and its leaders, particularly those entrusted with public responsibilities. He appealed to leaders at all levels to seek wisdom and always act in the best interest of the people, while reaffirming his personal commitment to quality representation, people-centered service, and inclusive development.

Describing the lawmaker as “one of our own,” Rev. Oyekola acknowledged Oseni’s interventions in infrastructure, empowerment, and community development within and beyond his federal constituency.

The Conference President thereafter invited church leaders, elders and members of the congregation to join him in special prayers for Hon. Oseni, committing his leadership, service, and future political ambition into the hands of God for divine direction and success.

The donation and address by Hon. Oseni drew commendations from participants, who described the gesture as timely and impactful, particularly in addressing energy challenges and supporting the mission of the church.
