The Founder and Chief Coordinator of The GSMists, Hon. Lukman Abayomi Olajide, popularly known as _‘Ore Gomina’_, has announced his resignation from the prominent pro-Makinde political support group, citing blackmail, character assassination and deliberate misinformation targeted at him.
Hon. Olajide, in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday, said the decision followed a special meeting of the group held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Oyo State Gymnastics Hall, Cultural Centre, Ibadan, where he addressed members on several issues affecting the movement and his person.
_The GSMists_ is a well-structured political support group formed to propagate the achievements of Oyo State Governor, Engr: Seyi Makinde, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the Omitutun administration.
In what he described as “for the records before vibrant members of The GSMists across the 33 Local Government Areas and 351 Wards,” Hon. Olajide made far-reaching clarifications to debunk allegations being peddled against him.
He stated categorically that he did not take any political appointment during _Omitutun 1.0 and 2.0_.
“I, Hon. Yomi Olajide, didn’t take any appointment in Omitutun 1.0 and 2.0,” he said.
He further explained that all projects executed by the group, including retreats and election mobilization seminars, were funded through voluntary contributions by members out of their love for Governor Makinde and the PDP.
On allegations regarding property and vehicles, the former coordinator clarified:
“GSM did not buy any house for me. He gave me a land allocation, and I informed the Senior Executive Assistant, Chief Bayo Lawal, to help me tell GSM that I would sell the allotted land. From it, I raised N13 million after all deductions, including agent’s commission.”
He added that when he could not secure a suitable property, Dr. Ismail Adewusi, former Postmaster General of the Federation, assisted him with additional funds to purchase and reconstruct his present residence. He also disclosed that proceeds from his _Royal Umbrella_ initiative, through patronage from royal fathers, were invested in the house reconstruction.
On the branded Mercedes-Benz Vito bus used for Governor Makinde’s second-term campaign, Hon. Olajide said he was the first to brand his personal bus for the 2023 elections under _The GSMists_ support group.
“After a while, I asked GSM that I needed a bus and he directed that a tokunbo Sienna be given to me, which I fondly refer to as ‘Aderopo’,” he explained.
Hon. Olajide expressed gratitude to key PDP leaders and government officials who supported _The GSMists_ and the _GSMists Magazine_, which was conceived to promote the Governor and the PDP government.
He specifically acknowledged: Deputy Governor, Barr. Bayo Lawal; PDP Deputy National Chairman (South), Amb. Taofeek Arapaja; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi; Dr. Debo Akande; Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States, His Eminence Daud Akinola Makanjuola; Hon. Toyin Balogun; Dr. Seun Fakorede; Rev. Idowu Ogedengbe; former CPS, Mr. Taiwo Adisa; Omoba Sola Kolawole Onikoyi; Otunba Olasunkanmi Sijuade; Mogaji Dr. Akin Fagbemi; Hon. Segun Olayiwola; Hon. Williams Akin-Funmilayo; Prof. Dahud Sangodoyin; Hon. Seun Ashamu; Hon. Bolanle Sarumi Aliyu; Hon. Abass Agboworin; Hon. Adedeji Dhikrullahi; Chief Tunde Ologburo; Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke; Engr. Jubril Dotun Sanusi; and many others.
He also appreciated the leadership of _The GSMists 1.0_ and _2.0_, including State Coordinator Prince Oluyinka Tella, Secretary Abolore Kamaldeen, PRO Moyosore Eedris, and all 33 LG and 351 Ward Coordinators.
Hon. Olajide tendered an unreserved apology to anyone he might have offended in the course of propagating the group’s ideals.
“I want to tender unreserved apologies to whomever I might have offended during the course of propagating The GSMists. Please forgive me, as I am not perfect,” he said.
He then announced his voluntary resignation from the group he founded.
“For now, I want to voluntarily resign my membership from my pet project, The GSMists. At this point, I cease to be part of this movement,” he declared.
However, he urged the Director General of the group, *Otunba Seye Famojuro*, not to allow _The GSMists_ to collapse after his exit, describing the members as loyal and sacrificial.
“I salute members of The GSMists for your uncommon love for the movement despite zero financial assistance or support from State and Local Government. By His Grace, all of you will succeed in your future endeavours,” he said.
Concluding, Hon. Olajide affirmed that politics remains his calling.
“Politics is in my blood. I pray to God to direct me on my next political destination. One Love. One Mission. Seyi L’oke L’oke.”
The July 25 meeting had in attendance all 33 LG Coordinators, State Excos, representatives of Ward Excos from the 351 Wards, and other key state leaders of The GSMists
