Ibadan, Oyo State – In a strategic move to boost agricultural productivity and reduce food insecurity, the Member representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency, Hon. Aderemi Abas Oseni, on Monday, June 29, 2026, empowered over 7,000 farmers with modern farm tools, chemicals, and inputs at the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF) Office, Ologuneru, Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Hon. Oseni, who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, described the empowerment as a direct dividend of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for farmers nationwide.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Oseni recalled that about nine months ago, he facilitated the distribution of six trailers of fertilizer to constituents through the intervention of President Tinubu for the development of each federal constituency.
“Today, as I told you then, what we did that day is small compared to what farmers will benefit from the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Tractors for land clearing and planting will soon be distributed to each local government across the country. Once they arrive, we will notify you, especially those engaged in cooperative farming,” he assured.
According to him, President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is specifically designed to reduce hunger and address the rising food and farming crisis in Nigeria. He noted that this explains why the Federal Government is distributing fertilizers, tractors, and other farming tools to all 774 local government areas.
“Today, we are distributing chemicals that will help reduce the stress our farmers face daily. About 7,000 pieces of these farm tools, chemicals, and inputs will benefit 7,000 farmers. This will go a long way in improving yields,” Oseni stated.
The federal lawmaker emphasized the need to consistently communicate the achievements of the Tinubu administration to the grassroots. “It is not good if we are not telling you what the President has been doing. This is not the first federal government we’ve had. Even if you are blind, you are not deaf,” he said.
He further disclosed that two specialist hospitals are currently at advanced stages of construction in Ido and Eruwa, while all schools in Ido/Ibarapa East have been documented for comprehensive refurbishment.
“Within the next four to five months, I assure you in Ido/Ibarapa East that what you have seen is very small compared to what is coming. When the specialist hospitals are completed, even if you don’t like our faces, you will like our projects,” he added.
Dignitaries at the event included the Onido of Ido, Oba Muritala Babalola, who described Hon. Oseni as “a philanthropist and humanity personified” who has been helping people long before venturing into politics. One of the beneficiaries, Chief Adesina Oladokun Gbagbe, the Maye of Ido Land, commended the lawmaker for making farming easier, noting that farmers can now cultivate over 20 acres with ease due to available tools.
Hon. Oseni concluded by urging constituents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 elections, warning against vote-buying. “Don’t allow anybody to keep your voter’s card for you. Vote-buying is one of the reasons Nigeria remains the same till today,” he cautioned.
