Ibadan, Oyo State – The Director-General of the Oyo State Abuja/Lagos Liaison Office, Hon. Busari Olayemi, has felicitated the Muslim Ummah in Oyo State and across Nigeria on the occasion of the 2026 Eid-el-Adha celebrations, describing the festival as a sacred reminder of faith, sacrifice, obedience, and unity.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Hon. Olayemi congratulated Muslims on the successful completion of the Hajj rites and the commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering submission to the will of Allah. He noted that Eid-el-Adha embodies values that are vital for national cohesion, moral renewal, and collective progress.

“Eid-el-Adha calls on all of us to reflect on the virtues of sacrifice, compassion, and trust in Allah. It is a season to renew our commitment to peace, to extend kindness to the less privileged, and to pray for the continued peace, unity, and prosperity of Oyo State and Nigeria,” Olayemi said.
The DG commended His Excellency, Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde FNSE, for his consistent demonstration of religious tolerance and inclusive governance since assuming office in 2019. He noted that the Makinde administration has created an enabling environment where Muslims and adherents of other faiths practice freely and participate meaningfully in governance.
“Since 2019, Governor Makinde has shown genuine respect for the Islamic faith through support for Muslim organizations, seamless facilitation of Hajj operations, recognition of Islamic holidays, and equitable representation of Muslims in key positions. His administration’s policies on education, infrastructure, healthcare, and youth empowerment have also directly benefited Muslim communities across the 33 local government areas,” he stated.

Hon. Olayemi further applauded the Governor’s swift and sustained response to the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area. He noted that the Governor’s directive for intensified security operations, collaboration with federal agencies, and continuous engagement with community leaders reflects responsible and proactive leadership in times of crisis.
“I commend His Excellency for his tireless efforts and personal commitment to ensuring the safe return of our abducted children and teachers in Oriire. The people of Oyo State have seen that this administration does not take the issue of security lightly. We stand in solidarity with the Governor and our security agencies as they work round the clock to secure the release of the victims,” he added.
The Liaison Office DG urged Muslims to use the sacred period of Eid-el-Adha to offer special prayers for the safe return of the abducted victims, for peace across Oyo State, and for wisdom and strength for Governor Makinde and all leaders entrusted with public responsibility.
“As we celebrate, let us not forget those in distress. Let us pray fervently for the freedom of the abducted pupils and teachers, for comfort for their families, and for divine intervention against all forms of insecurity. May Allah accept our prayers and sacrifices,” Olayemi prayed.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Abuja/Lagos Liaison Office to continue projecting Oyo State’s interests at the federal level, attract strategic partnerships, and support the Governor’s vision of an Oyo State that works for all, irrespective of religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation.
Hon. Busari Olayemi concluded by wishing the Muslim Ummah a peaceful, blessed, and spiritually rewarding Eid-el-Adha celebration.
