IBADAN, Oyo State – May 18, 2026 – The All Progressives Congress, APC, senatorial primary election for Oyo South Senatorial District witnessed an overwhelming turnout of party members across all wards on Monday, as grassroots mobilization translated into a strong show of support for Hon. Engr. Dr. Aderemi Abass Oseni.
Hon. Remi Oseni, the serving member representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on the Federal Road Maintenance Agency, FERMA, is contesting for the APC ticket to represent Oyo South Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections.
Across the district, APC faithful trooped out en masse to participate in the delegate election process. Party members, youth groups, women associations, and stakeholders turned out in large numbers, reflecting the high level of interest and engagement within the party ahead of the 2027 polls.
At Ward 4, Apete, where Hon. Remi Oseni was present to participate in the exercise, the atmosphere was described as charged and orderly. Party members cast their votes amid chants of support, with the lawmaker recording overwhelming backing from the electorate.

Similar scenes were reported across other wards in Oyo South Senatorial District, where APC members turned out to exercise their franchise and express confidence in Hon. Remi Oseni’s leadership and legislative track record. Observers noted that the high turnout underscored the lawmaker’s grassroots appeal and the effectiveness of his ongoing consultations with party structures across the district.
Stakeholders attributed the strong support to Hon. Remi Oseni’s visible contributions to infrastructure advocacy, particularly through his role in overseeing federal road maintenance at the national level, as well as his consistent engagement with constituents in Ido/Ibarapa East. Many described him as a candidate with proven capacity to represent Oyo South effectively at the Senate.
The APC primary election is a critical step in the party’s internal process to select its flagbearer for the Oyo South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections. Collation of results from the wards is expected to proceed in line with the party’s guidelines.
Leaders, and members of the party, described the turnout and support across the district as a clear mandate from the grassroots and a positive signal for the campaign moving forward.
