In a daring operation, the Oyo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, in collaboration with local hunters, has successfully rescued four kidnapped victims, including the Baale Alagede’s two wives and two sons.

The victims were abducted at around 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from their residence in Alagede village, near Kola Daisi University in Akinyele, Ibadan. The kidnappers were trailed to the forest of Ojutaye along Oretu Road, where the combined team of Amotekun and local hunters launched a rescue operation.

According to eyewitnesses, the police AKS team arrived at the scene and forcefully took custody of the rescued victims from the Amotekun team, who were tasked with evacuating them to safety.

Tragically, one of the brave hunters from Oretu village, identified as Ojo, lost his life during the operation. Efforts are currently underway to evacuate his corpse for burial.

The men of Oyo Amotekun and local hunters are still combing the bush, having successfully cornered the kidnappers in a particular area. Further details of the operation are expected to emerge soon.

This daring rescue operation is a testament to the bravery and effectiveness of the Oyo Amotekun and local hunters in combating kidnapping and insecurity in the state. If adequately equipped with sophisticated weapons, they have the potential to be an even more formidable force in the fight against crime.

The successful rescue operation highlights the importance of collaboration between security agencies and local communities in tackling insecurity. It also underscores the need for continued support and empowerment of Amotekun and local hunters to enable them to effectively carry out their duties.
