In a shocking move, the GSMISTS Stakeholders have suspended several top officials of the organization, including the State Secretary, PRO, Organizing Secretary, and Two Senatorial Coordinators, over allegations of misappropriation of funds and abuse of office.
The decision was made at an emergency meeting held on February 8, 2025, at Farik Hotel, Ibadan, where stakeholders from the three in Senatorial Districts in Oyo State gathered to review the activities of the GSMISTS Group.
Those affected by the suspension include:
- Arch. Salam Azeez, State Secretary and Personal Assistant to Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Edo & Delta
- Bashorun Saint Abbey (Adeniji Abiodun), State PRO and self-acclaimed loyalist to the People’s Democratic Party and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State
- Adelowo Michael (Coded), Oyo South Coordinator and brother to former Ibarapa East/Ido federal lawmaker, Hon. Yemi Taiwo.
- Ogunleke Sunday, Oyo Central Coordinator
- Ibn Solihu, State Organizing Secretary
The Stakeholders have appointed a Three-Men Caretaker Committee to oversee the affairs of the organization, and have ordered the suspended officials to hand over all properties of the group to the Caretaker Committee Members.
In a surprise move, the Stakeholders passed a vote of confidence in Hon. Lukman Abayomi Olajide (Royal Umbrella), the State Coordinator, who has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
All Political Appointees have been notified of this development, and the Stakeholders have assured that a thorough investigation will be conducted into the allegations against the suspended officials.
