Benedict Akika, a close associate of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, has been released from captivity six days after being kidnapped from his home in Ibadan.
According to sources, Akika was taken to a medical facility for examination after his release, but it is unclear whether a ransom was paid. His kidnapping had sparked interdenominational prayers from his loyalists, who sought divine intervention for his safe return. Akika, known for his contributions to the Akobo-Olorunda community, had been installed as Agbaakin of Olorunda by traditional rulers.
His release brings an end to a tense period for his supporters and the Oyo State government.
