Senator Sharafadeen Alli, who happens to be the senator representing the Oyo South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, during an interview with The Punch correspondent, spoke on his political journey, and other issues.
When he was told that the issue of the creation of more states is on again in the country and that considering the economic challenges Nigerians are facing, creating more states might not be necessary.
When he was responding to this, Senator Alli said that all entities in the country are qualified to stand as a state.
He said, “All entities that are qualified to stand as a state should be granted that status. In Oyo State, all the senators and representatives of all the zones have agreed that the state be divided into two.”
Further talking, he said, “The proposed Ibadan State will have 14 council areas and the other state Oyo, or New Oyo as it may be called, will have 19.”
