No fewer than 200 widows were gifted food items at Prince FM’s 2024 Ramadan Lecture and 10th Year Widows’ Charity Empowerment Ceremony.
The event which held at the OTM Central Mosque, Iwo Road, Ibadan drew hundreds of dignitaries including the Oyo South Senatorial District, Senator Sarafadeen Alli, former Ibarapa central local council caretaker, Hon. Sarafa Olaoniye Bibiire, Fresh FM’s Media guru, Abolade Salami, among others.
In his message, popular cleric and Islamic musician, Alhaji Abdulbasit Katibi, fondly called ‘Aponle Anobi’ said it was necessary everyone in the country make contentment his watchword.
Explaining further, Aponle Anobi noted that lack of contentment has attributed to all sorts of social vices including corrpution, kidnapping, banditry, among others.
He added that instead of being discontented, politicians and well meaning Nigerians should rise to supporting the less privileged, applauding the chairman of Prince89.7FM, Dr. Babatunde Balogun for his continued philanthropy to the less privileged, especially the, widows and widowers.
Reacting, Oyo South Senatorial District, Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli, represented by his personal aide, Hon. Kazeem Alimi, called the politicians to return to their constituents for aid.
He maintained that there is no one who will deny the fact that the economy is bleeding, believed every elected leader should make it a task to lending support to his constituents as to cushion the effect of bad economy on them and not the time to avoid them.
” I have really understood this, this makes me more closer to my constituents, even more than before I was elected a lawmaker in Oyo State, because, I understand the fact that there is poverty, and unemployment in the land.
” Just on Saturday, I funded a youth digital marketing empowerment programme at the Islamic High School, Basorun, Ibadan the essence is to sweep unemployment from my constitiency, as not only president Bola Ahmed Tinubu alone can bring positive change on the economy of the country, but, with the fuller support of every politician and well meaning Nigerians”
Reiterating his readiness to support his constituents, gave a sum of #250, 000 to the chairman of Prince FM, Dr. Balogun, insisted on his continued financial support of his Widows Empowerment Charity Foundation for more coverage.
In his contribution, former Ibarapa Central Council Caretaker Boss, Hon. Sarafa Olaoniye Bibiire while applauding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his effort at revamping the economy of the country, noted that there should be consideration of the widows, and widowers in his government for a better state of living.
However, Bibiire urged the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde to continue strengthening the state economic frameworks so as to reduce poverty, and joblessness of the widows, widowers who do not have anyone to support them through implementation of friendly economic policies.
In his short remark, FreshFM’s media guru, Abolade Salami lamented poor responses of elected lawmakers in times like this, crediting Abass Adigun Agboworin, who has commenced empowerment of his constituents, while other elected leaders should make sure they rally round their constituents against spreading poverty and unemployment.
In his remarks, Prince FM’s Boss, and Founder of Oruomeniowo Charity Foundation, Dr. Babatunde Balogun said he was directed from the Almighty God to putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged, especially the widows, widowers, and orphans.
He said his had started the scheme over ten years, applauding various philanthropist in his aid, called for more support from politicians, well meaning Nigerians for more coverage.
Meanwhile, over 200 widows were gifted food items at the event, irrespective of religion.
