The Longest reigning Monarch in Oke-Ogun axis of Oyo State, HRM Oba Nicolas Oyelami Folaranmi Aninnku II, the Onidiko of Idiko-Ile in Iwajowa Local Government, has been decorated with the beaded crown and Staff of Office by Oyo State Government.
Mr Aiki, the Director of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, who stood in for Governor Seyi Makinde, presented the beaded crown and staff of office to the monarch at the coronation ceremony which took place at RCM Primary School, Idiko-Ile, Iwajowa LG.
Earlier, Aiki appreciated everyone present at the official coronation, most especially those whose contributions made the occasion a reality and the other contestants for their display of maturity and understanding aimed at moving the community forward.
The Director admonished new monarch to always be alive to his traditional responsibilities by serving and protecting the interest of his people and at the same time give unflinching support and loyalty to the state government.
He however expressed his profound gratitude to the good people of Idiko-Ile and Iwajowa Local Government in general for their trust in Makinde’s capacity to effectively approve his second term in office through franchise voting right that had given him an opportunity of steering the wheel of administration of the pace-setter state for the next four years.
In another vein, the Executive Chairman, Iwajowa Local Government, Hon. Jelili Adebare Oyinloye said the event constituted an important milestone in the annals of history of the ancient town of Idiko-Ile in many regards.
He maintained that, it offered the community an opportunity of welcoming Governor Seyi Makinde to the local government after the victory of his re-election and also created the headed avenue for the sons and daughters, as well as visitors of the community to celebrate the coronation ceremony for the royal father, which he added would no small measure elevate the status of the Kabiyesi and the community at large in the comity of other traditional institutions in the state.
While speaking with news men, Rev. Dr. Olayode Samuel Adebayo, an indigene and General Overseer of World & Faith Evangelical Chapel appreciated God almighty, Governor Seyi Makinde and others whose contributions were instrumental to possibility of official coronation of the monarch who came on board on September, 1986.
At event covered by naijatodaynew.com, Rev. Adebayo maintained that, the people of Idiko-Ile would forever be grateful to Makinde’s kindness that orchestrated the presentation of the beaded crown and staff of office to the monarch after 37 years of his installation.
He however charged the monarch to ensure his submission to the subjects, in order to attain expected cooperation, unity and love needed to move the community forward.
Former Executive Chairman of the council area, Alhaji Engr. Lateef Adeoye Badmus could not hide his happiness, as part of efforts made on receipt of the beaded crown while in office as the council boss had eventually become a reality.
Badmus prayed for monarch’s sound health, longevity, peace of mind and naturally endowed wisdom needed for development of Idiko-Ile and Iwajowa LG as a whole.
He however appealed to people at home and in diaspora to work hand in hand in order to take the ancient town from where it is now to the greater heights.
Mr Jide Akinlotan who hails from Elééde Compound, Idiko-Ile gave brief historical background of Idiko-Ile since its creation in 1935 by Governor Sàsà Eniyan Oresanya and developments which had been attracted to the ancient town.
Akinlotan thanked God almighty over both physical and spiritual growth which people and community had attained.
As oliver twist will continue to request for more, he called on governments at all levels to make the ancient town having government’s attention needed for its growth and development in all ramifications.
Also, Akinlotan charged community’s stakeholders who are at home and in diaspora not to relent in their efforts which are geared towards acceleration of development in all nooks and crannies of the ancient town.
Saliu Idirisu, Chairman Miyetti Allah in Idiko-Ile prayed for monarch monarch’s sound health, longevity and however called on people of the community to sustain the current mutual understanding and peace reigning with Fulanis in the ancient town.
