The Media Team on Covid-19, University College Hospital, Ibadan Oyo State has said that the hospital has not recorded any new case of Coronavirus pestilence for almost two weeks, stressing that it was sequel to efforts to be ahead of the game in the battle against the pernicious disease.
This message was contained In its release issued on ‘ Update on Diagnosed Cases of Covid-19 in the UCH, Ibadan’ and made available to Naija Today News on Friday, May 8th.
In another development, the media team stated that, The hospital held a one-day training on Health and Safety as part of the efforts to be ahead of the game in the battle against COVID 19″.
“The training was put together by UCH Emergency Response Committee and the Task force on COVID-19. It centred mainly on the proper and rational use of Personal Protective Equipment in different contexts based on existing global and national guidelines”.
“The CMAC while declaring the event open advised that all health and safety officers at the training should step down all they learnt in their various departments in order to broaden the knowledge “on this noisesome coronavirus pestilence”.
” He also charged all Health and Safety officers to act as custodians of health and safety in the hospital”.
“Speakers at the training dwelt on the importance of ensuring safety at workplace and minimizing hazards associated with workplace. Emphasis was also placed on hazard identification, control and prevention.
In addition, practical demonstration was carried out on proper hand washing and use of hand sanitisers”.
“The training outlined a number of cleaning, disinfection and waste management procedures that are to be maintained in an hospital setting”.
“Also appropriate methods of disposing and decontamination of biohazard wastes was discussed”.
“The hospital has not recorded any new case of COVID 19 in more than 10 days now, while our level of preparedness has been upscaled”.
“The University College Hospital, Ibadan will continue to render excellent care and services to all our patients”.
“The Hospital equally enjoins everyone to abide by the required infection prevention and control measures as prescribed by the WHO and NCDC such as physical distancing, regular hand washing, use of hand sanitizers and face masks”.
