The traditional institution in Oyo State has once again affirmed its partnership with purposeful governance as His Royal Majesty, Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola, Ajobo Olurin I, the Eleruwa of Eruwa, conferred the prestigious chieftaincy titles of Aare Asoludero of Eruwaland and Yeye Asoludero of Eruwaland on His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde FNSE, Governor of Oyo State, and his wife, Her Excellency, Chief Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, respectively.
The conferment, which took place during the grand finale of the Eleruwa’s first coronation anniversary in Eruwa, Ibarapaland, was described by stakeholders as a historic recognition of the Makinde administration’s commitment to inclusive development, unity, and the preservation of Yoruba cultural heritage.
In a congratulatory message signed by Hon. Busari Olayemi, Director-General, Oyo State Liaison Office Lagos/Abuja, the conferment was described as a well-deserved honour and a reflection of the Governor and First Lady’s exemplary contributions to the growth and progress of Oyo State.
“Today, Eruwaland has written its name in gold by bestowing these revered titles on a leader and his partner who have demonstrated uncommon dedication to the welfare of the people. The title of Aare Asoludero is not merely ceremonial. It symbolizes a defender of the people, a promoter of development, and a bridge between government and traditional authority,” Hon. Olayemi stated.
He noted that since assuming office, Governor Makinde has redefined governance in Oyo State through massive investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and security, while also strengthening the relationship between government and traditional institutions across the 33 Local Government Areas.
Hon. Busari Olayemi also celebrated Her Excellency, Chief Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde, describing her installation as Yeye Asoludero of Eruwaland as a fitting acknowledgement of her quiet strength, compassion, and commitment to women, children, and vulnerable groups across the state.
“Yeye Asoludero speaks to motherhood, nurturing, and service. Mama Oyo has embodied these virtues through her numerous humanitarian interventions and her steadfast support for the Omituntun 2.0 agenda. This honour is a call to even greater service to humanity,” he added.
The Director-General commended Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola and the Eruwa Traditional Council for the thoughtful decision, noting that the gesture further strengthens the bond between the present administration and the traditional institution.
“This conferment sends a clear message, that the people of Ibarapaland and indeed Oyo State appreciate leadership that is accessible, responsive, and people-centered. It is also a challenge to sustain the tempo of development that has made Oyo State a reference point in good governance,” Hon. Olayemi said.
He prayed that Almighty God would continue to endow Governor Makinde and his wife with wisdom, good health, strength, and long life to enable them to render more service to humanity and to lead Oyo State to greater heights.
